Saul to United?

Manchester United are reportedly prepared to pay £134m for Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez if they sell Paul Pogba.

The Red Devils are desperately trying to keep Pogba at the club beyond the summer.

But with Real Madrid equally as willing to pinch the Frenchman, United may be forced to part ways with their club-record signing.

Should that happen, Spanish outlet AS are reporting that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side would be willing to meet Atletico’s valuation of Saul.

The midfielder has a €150m (£134m) release clause in his contract, which the Old Trafford outfit ‘intend’ to pay if Pogba leaves.

Leeds eye Philiips alternative

Leeds are starting to realise keeping hold of Kalvin Phillips may be out of their control as they pinpoint replacements amid interest from Tottenham and Aston Villa.

It has led the Elland Road outfit to look for alternatives, with the Daily Mail reporting that Ivan Sunjic is on their radar.

The Croatia Under-21 captain would cost peanuts compared to Phillips but are facing a fight with Birmingham for his signature.

The 22-year-old is one of the rising stars with the Balkan nation and his style of play has been somewhat compared to Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modric.

Lukaku demand

Manchester United have slapped a whopping £90m price-tag on Romelu Lukaku amid interest from Inter Milan despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s prominent stance on fees.

Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio met with United officials met in London on Friday for talks but a bid was not put in place.

But the Old Trafford outfit have no intention of letting the striker leave on the cheap, instead whacking a £90m price-tag on him – according to the Telegraph.

That would come as a mighty blow to the Italian side, who would have to offload players to fund such a deal.

Inter had proposed a two-year loan deal worth £9m a season and an obligation to buy for £53.7m at the end.

However, the Red Devils are demanding a lump sum and are under no pressure to sell.

Maguire then Fernandes

Manchester United will only pursue Bruno Fernandes once they have landed Harry Maguire.

That is according to Portuguese outlet A Bola.

United still want Fernandes this summer but have recently slowed down in negotiations.

This is because Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to prioritise the arrival of Maguire from Leicester.

Liverpool exit eyed?

Could Harry Wilson be leaving Anfield this summer?

A host of Premier League sides are chasing the former Derby loanee’s signature at present.

And former Liverpool star Stephen Warnock believes Wilson should leave.

“If Liverpool get an offer for Harry Wilson that matches a valuation that they think they can accept, I think he’ll go,” Warnock told LFC TV.

“I think it’s difficult for someone like Harry to look at (Sadio) Mane and (Mo) Salah, can he break in-front of them?

“You’ve got to be on a different level to break in-front of those players.

Saliba battle

Tottenham are set to hold a meeting with Saint-Etienne today to finalise the transfer of William Saliba.

Spurs have entered the race for Saliba very late in the day and are hoping to steal a march on arch rivals Arsenal.

The Gunners have tracked the teenager for much of the summer and he was among their top transfer targets.

A deal between Arsenal and the French side had been agreed in principle, but they still needed to thrash out the term of how bonuses would be structured and paid.

Tottenham have swooped in and negotiated all relevant aspects of the deal and are due to meet today to complete the deal, reports RMC Sport.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have submitted an offer that exceeds €30m (£26.9m) – which is more than Arsenal could offer.

Longstaff wants Man Utd chat

Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff wants the chance to speak to Manchester United to discuss a potential move, according to Sky Sports.

Should St James’ Park bigwigs be unwilling to open that door though, Longstaff will respect their decision.

United would subsequently have to accept that they will fail in luring him away if this proves to be the case.

He is understood to be fully committed to Newcastle, and is not expected to force a move at this stage.

Klopp makes Liverpool prediction

Jurgen Klopp insists Liverpool will not have “the biggest transfer window of all time” as it looks set to be a quiet summer at Anfield.

The Kop boss is only in the market for reinforcements in this window and it is highly unlikely the Reds will splash big money on a top-level star.

The emergence of Rhian Brewster as a replacement for Daniel Sturridge following his long-term ankle injury and the return of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to full fitness means Klopp already feels like he has two new signings in his squad.

“The transfer market is open. We will see what we do, but I don’t think it will be the biggest transfer window of all time,” said Klopp.

“Rhian Brewster and Oxlade-Chamberlain didn’t play last year. All the young boys didn’t play for us last year.”
