Tom Hardy was reportedly fired from MobLand after his actions on set apparently infuriated his co-star Helen Mirren.
Following several disagreements with producers, it was revealed on Friday that the 48-year-old actor, who co-stars with Pierce Brosnan and Dame Helen as fixer Harry Da Souza, will not be returning for the forthcoming third season.
Helen, 80, who plays Maeve Harrigan in the Paramount+ crime drama series, was not happy with Tom’s attitude on set, saying he “swaggers around like a king,” according to The Daily Mail’s Katie Hind, who published this information prior to the news of his resignation.
A source close to the MobLand project stated that Tom was late and had insisted on changing lines during filming in the wake of his departure. Additionally, he reportedly supplied script notes without being asked.
According to one source, he was upset that the show was focusing more on his co-stars Helen and Pierce, and disagreements with producer Jez Butterworth reportedly resulted in Jez threatening to resign.
Helen’s emotions are similar to those of Charlize Theron, with whom he had a major falling out when filming Mad Max: Fury Road in 2015. Charlize refused to be alone with the star, and his tardiness and attitude resulted in a yelling altercation.
Tom Hardy was reportedly fired from MobLand after his actions on set apparently infuriated his co-star Helen Mirren.
The Puck newsletter initially revealed Tom’s termination from MobLand, stating, “I’m told Paramount recently opted not to pick up Hardy for season three.”
“Clashes with producers Jez Butterworth and David Glasser, among others, during the recent production of season two” were cited in the report.
According to Matthew Belloni, a former editorial director of The Hollywood Reporter, the Puck newsletter asserts that producers were unable to handle Tom’s purported actions.
Tom’s representative has been contacted by Daily Mail for comment.
The MobLand set report follows remarks about Helen’s outrage at the star’s actions, which even included his using his phone to play games when he was supposed to be somewhere else.
According to sources who spoke to The Mail on Sunday, she was becoming more and more irritated with Tom’s behavior on set, which made it difficult for her to collaborate closely with him after they joined forces to create the second series in November.
According to an insider, Tom has a pleasant personality. When the cameras stop, he appears to be the calm one. Dame Helen is delightful, an absolute pro, and has collaborated with numerous individuals throughout the years.
According to insiders, Tom (seen in February) was “fired from hit Paramount+ series MobLand.”
However, she is becoming more and more irritated with Tom’s behavior. He occasionally arrives late for filming, which irritates Dame Helen, who is very orderly and professional.Dame Helen dislikes both his tone and his tardiness; she expects better. She has high expectations for others. She is eighty years old. She has witnessed everything.
She no longer appears to be as content working on scenes with him, according to the behind-the-scenes staff that witness everything. Between them, everything has become very personal.
Tom seems to be winding her up. He swaggers around like he’s the king, causing a lot of commotion. He is incredibly conceited. Everyone enjoys working on it, and it’s a great show. It’s quite unfortunate that this undertone exists.
According to a different source, Tom, who is married to 44-year-old Peaky Blinders actress Charlotte Riley, has a propensity to lose his temper behind the scenes.
Tom was allegedly going to take a break when MobLand filming concluded because he “needed to have a rest.”
“I’ve had two knee surgeries now, and my disc is herniated in my back,” he said to Esquire UK. I also have sciatica. And I have it. Is it plantar fasciitis? “Where did that originate?” And why? Why? Additionally, I pulled my hip tendon. Right now, everything is coming apart, and things won’t get better.
He and his co-star Charlize Theron got into a heated argument over his tardiness during the 2015 Mad Max: Fury Road production. Later, he acknowledged that she deserved better and that he wasn’t prepared for the part (Charlize and Tom shown in May 2015).
The conflict between Charlize and Tom back in 2015 was widely reported, and in 2022, Tom addressed rumors that Charlize felt intimidated by his actions on the Mad Max: Fury Road production.
Charlize called Tom a “fing c” after he made her wait for hours on set. Despite working together on the film, the two had such an explosive chemistry on site that they frequently got into heated yelling arguments.
According to Kyle Buchanan’s book Blood, Sweat & Chrome: The Wild and True Story of Mad Max: Fury Road, Charlize also had a female producer accompany her at all times as “protection” because she was “scared s***less” by “aggressive” Tom.
Tom told Kyle, “In hindsight, I was in over my head in many ways,” in an attempt to ease the tension. There were moments when the pressure was too much for us both. She needed a better, maybe more seasoned partner in me.It is impossible to fake that. Now that I’m older and ugly, I’d like to think I could handle that situation.
