TODAY’S EMERGENCY UPDATE: 40 people have been rescued near Dover following a tragedy.

Following a tragedy in Dover on Wednesday, when 27 migrants died when their boat capsized, more migrants have been rescued.

According to the BBC, 40 migrants were rescued from two boats.

The Prime Minister stated that the United Kingdom would increase its support and that he supported joint patrols on French beaches to intercept migrants.

For the first time since he was tasked with reviewing how to prevent migrants from crossing the Channel, Stephen Barclay will face Cabinet Office questions later on Thursday.

After at least 27 people drowned off the coast of Calais trying to reach Britain, Boris Johnson has demanded that the French government “step up” and stop migrants from crossing the Channel.
