There is one ghost for every 89 residents in the UK’s “most haunted community.”

A VILLAGE IN KENT purportedly has one ghost sighting for every 89 residents, according to the Guinness Book of Records’ “most haunted” category.

Pumpkins carved with nasty grimaces are cropping up all over the place as Halloween approaches. The custom of dressing up and celebrating each year on October 31 is thought to have begun with the ancient Celtic celebration of Samhain. To fend off ghosts, people would light bonfires and dress up in costumes. When it came to attracting ghosts, one charming community in the English countryside seems to have gotten the short end of the stick. Pluckley, a Kent village about five miles (eight kilometers) west of Ashford, has been dubbed the country’s most haunted.

After 12 distinct purported sightings, the settlement was named the “most haunted village in Britain” in the 1989 Guinness Book of Records.

Guinness, on the other hand, no longer uses the category.

According to KentLive, Pluckley has more ghost sightings per person than any other village in the UK.

Pluckley had a population of 1,069 people in 2011, which amounts to one ghost for every 89 people.

Last year, The Mirror stated that the community has 15 ghosts, or one for every 71 citizens.

It has appeared in a number of supernatural television shows, including Most Haunted and Ghostly Legends. It was also the scene for David Jason and Catherine Zeta Jones’ ITV drama series The Darling Buds of May.

Tourists and amateur ghost hunters continue to travel to the eerie village from all over the country in the hopes of catching a glimpse of one of the monsters.

Julie Halliday, a local resident, told KentOnline about one particular spirit in 2019.

“A lot of people say their hair gets pulled — a medium told us it’s because she gets bored and mischievous,” she said of a young girl named Elizabeth who was believed to have been plastered into the walls of The Black Horse pub by her evil nanny: “A lot of people say their hair gets pulled — a medium told us it’s because she gets bored and mischievous.”

“I used to leave her a doll, but because we’ve had new owners and changing employees over the years, the doll has been taken away, and she acts out.”

“I believe the accounts and have personally witnessed events; much too many things have occurred over the years for it not to be true.”

Originally, the Black Horse was a farmhouse surrounded by a. “Brinkwire News Summary.”
