The sighting of a UFO over London has conspiracy theorists praising the ‘exciting’ video.

After spotting a mysterious craft hovering over the streets of London, UFO enthusiasts believe they have hit the jackpot in their search for aliens.

After spotting what they claim to be an extraterrestrial UFO over the capital of England, conspiracy theorists are on the quest for aliens. The original encounter was captured on video by YouTube channel Orion, who shows a bizarre rectangular object floating absolutely still over Lea Bridge in northeast London.

“Mysterious UFO floating over Lea Bridge, London,” Orion captioned the video.

Scott C Waring, a well-known alien enthusiast, instantly picked up on the video, calling it a “interesting” find.

“The object has a bronze colour to it, and I can see a black eye like window on one end, presumably the pilot’s cockpit,” Mr Waring said on his blog UFO Sightings Daily.

“It resembles a bug cocoon more than anything else.

“The exceedingly unusual shape of the UFO, as well as the fact that it was observed in broad daylight, makes it quite exciting.”

While the nature of the object is unclear, there is most likely a more rational explanation.

The alleged UFO could simply be a drone due to its form.

It could also be a helicopter that is out of focus with a low-resolution camera.

While there is no proof that UFOs exist, sightings and allegations made by conspiracy theorists can raise more serious concerns.

“While UFOs continue to circulate in popular culture, scientists are seeking to address the big issue that UFOs raise: Are we alone,” Chris Impey, university distinguished professor of astronomy at the University of Arizona, wrote for The Conversation.

“Over 4,000 exoplanets, or planets orbiting other stars, have been discovered by astronomers, with the number doubling every two years.

“Some of these exoplanets are considered habitable because their masses are similar to Earth’s and they are close enough to their stars to contain water on their surfaces.

“The closest habitable planets are less than 20 light years distant, almost in our cosmic backyard.

“Extrapolating from these findings, we can estimate that our galaxy has 300 million habitable worlds.

“Each of these Earth-like planets is a potential biological experiment, and life has evolved and intelligence and technology have emerged over billions of years since they created. Astronomers are sure that life exists beyond our planet.
