The Queen’s eating habits at Balmoral put her in touch with ordinary Britons – she’s “more relaxed.”
When she eats informal meals in Balmoral, QUEEN ELIZABETH II has a very relatable eating habit, according to her former cook.
During her summer vacations at Balmoral Castle, Queen Elizabeth II, 95, is believed to live a more easygoing lifestyle. According to Her Majesty’s former chef, Darren McGrady, royal life in Scotland is so casual that Her Majesty occasionally consumes healthful food straight from a plastic container.
“People usually remark, ‘Oh, the Queen must dine off gold plates with gold knives and forks,’” he said in a rediscovered interview with Marie Claire.
“Yes, on occasion… She ate fruit from a plastic yellow Tupperware container at Balmoral, however.”
Between 1982 and 1993, Mr. McGrady worked for the Queen for more than a decade.
He then moved to Kensington Palace, where he prepared for Princess Diana, Prince Charles, and their children until Diana’s sad death.
Mr McGrady claimed that while on vacation in Scotland, the entire family “let their hair down.”
“The Queen was too busy at Buckingham Palace, and the kitchens were too far away from her apartment – so we never saw her,” he explained.
“We’d see her all the time at Balmoral. They were much more at ease and had a lot more spare time.
“Philip would grill his food outside.
“He’d come down to the kitchens and talk about what we’d eat: ‘Do we have any salmon caught by any of the family members?’ Let’s have strawberries for dinner since the Queen has been gathering strawberries with Princess Margaret.’
Mr. McGrady isn’t the first royal insider to reveal the Queen’s laid-back lifestyle when she moves to Scotland.
Juliet Rieden, a royal author, has previously stated that the monarch does the dishes on occasion.
“This is where she loves to be, and it’s holiday time for the Queen,” she told Nine News.
“She has always remarked that this is where she is most herself and most at ease.
“When they’re out grilling, which they love to do in the grounds of Balmoral — it’s a vast estate with the most gorgeous grounds – where they literally set up a BBQ.
“After that, the Queen does the dishes.”
Princess Eugenie also shared her open thoughts on the Queen’s love for Balmoral in 2016.
“I think Granny is the happiest there,” the princess stated in an ITV documentary commemorating the Queen’s 90th birthday.
“I believe she is sincere.”Brinkwire Summary News”.
