A visitor stabbed the hired photographer next to the dance floor, turning an otherwise picture-perfect wedding in a picturesque part of Maine into a nightmare.
After sustaining cuts to his liver, Donald Halsing, 26, of Marlborough, Massachusetts, was taken to emergency surgery and hospitalized for five days.
Andrew T. Manderson, 26, of Scarborough, Maine, the bride’s cousin, is accused of both aggravated assault and enhanced aggravated assault.
The May 23 ceremony was flawless until Manderson suddenly lunged at him, according to Halsing, who works as a photographer to save money for his own wedding.
“It was a very beautiful day up there.” “A lovely location for a wedding,” Halsing told the Boston Globe.
“We were thrilled to be there, spend the entire day with a couple, and take their pictures.”
Halsing claimed that he and his fiancée, Ashley Wall, had journeyed to the barn venue at Kingsley Pines Camp in Raymond, which is located next to the banks of Panther Pond in south Maine.
A visitor approached the photographer and struck up a discussion while he was standing next to the cake-cutting table taking shots of people dancing.

The wedding took place in the barn at Raymond’s Kingsley Pines Camp, which is shown above. “People frequently ask us about our business when we’re working.” He inquired about our fees for weddings, Halsing told the Globe.
I brought out my phone to show him our Instagram page because it was really difficult for me to hear him because I was standing directly in front of one of the DJ’s speakers. When he dug into his back pocket, I was able to at least find our Instagram’s name in the search bar.
Halsing claimed that although he thought Manderson was getting his phone, he silently took out a pocket knife and stabbed him in the abdomen.
I noticed a hole in my tummy as I looked down. And I remarked, ‘That’s not very good,’ Halsing remembered.
“As I looked up, I caught a glimpse of him leaving the barn.”
Halsing screamed for assistance as he frantically climbed onto the stage next to the DJ.
Fortunately, some of the wedding attendees who raced to his aid had medical training.
Halsing claimed that he and his fiancée, Ashley Wall, proceeded to the barn site at Kingsley Pines Camp in Raymond, south Maine, for the May 23 wedding. The image above shows Wall and Halsing.
After the attack, Halsing was taken to emergency surgery and stayed in the hospital for five days. “The bride is a nurse, and one of her bridal party members, Ryan, is an ER nurse, and he immediately got me sat down in a chair, got the wound packed up with napkins, and then the tablecloth got wrapped around me to hold pressure,” Halsing said.
Some of the attendees were also qualified medical experts. I could have easily perished without them.
While other wedding attendees pursued Manderson, who ran to the lake, the best man, an off-duty police officer, questioned Halsing about his assailant.
Halsing claimed to have discovered later that Manderson was the bride’s father. He still doesn’t know what caused the attack.
According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, Manderson was taken into custody within 20 minutes after deputies arrived on the scene shortly after 9 p.m.
The violent attack was described as a “unexpected and unprovoked attack” in a fundraising organized to assist with Halsing’s medical expenses.

The website says, “Those who know Donald know he would never hurt a fly.”
After being taken to the hospital, Donald underwent emergency surgery. He sustained two cuts, one of which was to his liver.
It is anticipated that his recuperation would take a lengthy time. He is eager to move past this nightmare.
According to the fundraising page, Halsing had recently moved into his first house with his fiancée and was meant to be attending her bridal shower while he was in the hospital.
