The hotel where Meghan and Harry are staying in New York has an eerie resemblance to Princess Diana’s ‘Grand home.’
For their three-day journey to New York City, HARRY AND MEGHAN are said to have chosen the Carlyle hotel, Princess Diana’s favorite residence.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have brought attention to a famous New York restaurant just by staying there for a few nights. Minutes after Page Six confirmed Harry and Meghan would be staying at the Carlyle, all eyes were on the hotel.
The couple may have picked the Carlyle hotel not simply for its excellent location, but also for its history with Harry’s mother, as they prepare to perform at the Global Citizen Live event in Central Park this weekend.
Princess Diana, who died in 1997, was a frequent visitor to New York and stayed at the Carlyle on several occasions.
She first visited the city as a queen in February 1989 on a three-day solo tour, which was filmed for season four of “The Crown.”
After her divorce in 1996, she continued to live at the same address.
Piers Morgan recounted how the late Princess took part in “the most famous elevator trip in history” at the Carlyle in Matthew Miele’s 2018 documentary “Always the Carlyle.”
Michael Jackson and Steve Jobs, according to Mr Morgan, shared the hotel elevator with Lady D.
Before Diana began singing “Beat It,” the three were “totally silent.”
The Princess is said to have stayed on the 22nd level in the 1,800-square-foot “Royal Suite.”
Meghan Markle gains a new affectionate moniker
According to Jennifer Cooke, the hotel’s communications director, this suite is one of the most popular.
When Prince William and his wife Kate visited New York City in 2014, they booked the same suite.
Ms Cooke claims she overheard Prince William mention in the lobby of the hotel that he had heard a lot about it over the years in the documentary.
“I believe the Duke and Duchess stayed here at the Carlyle since Princess Diana stayed here,” she remarked.

The Royal Suite is now more than $8,000 (£5,800) a night.
“The Royal Suite is one of our most sought after at the Carlyle,” previous managing director Giovanni Beretta told Architectural Digest. You have the distinct impression that you are entering a.”Brinkwire Summary News.”
