The glitzy new girlfriend of Salim Mehajer is revealed: At a cafe in Sydney’s upscale eastern suburbs, a former deputy mayor was seen sporting fresh ink and an ankle monitor

Salim Mehajer, a real estate entrepreneur and former deputy mayor of Auburn, has been seen out and about with his new partner in a posh part of eastern Sydney.

The disgraced lawmaker was spotted on Sunday at Indigo Cafe in Double Bay, sporting an ankle monitor and what looked to be a new “not guilty” tattoo.

His brunch visitor wore a Billini Harriet handle bag in bone, Billini Xami gold metallic shoes, and a clean white Alo Yoga clubhouse jacket that costs $188.

Mehajer, who was freed from prison in July 2025, posted a selfie with his new girlfriend earlier this month, but he strangely masked her face. He captioned the photo with a pink love emoji and wrote, “With my best friend, my soulmate, and my forever Queen (Inshallah).”

With the exception of a few court appearances, doing errands in his Tesla Model 3, and the occasional post on his private Instagram account, 39-year-old Mehajer has maintained a low profile since his widely reported release.

On Sunday, he went to Indigo Cafe with his new companion for coffee and juice as part of those errands.

The most recent sighting occurred weeks after the former mayor’s application for an apprehended violence order against his former partner—whom he had previously been imprisoned for assaulting—was denied by a Sydney court, resulting in a significant legal setback.

Salim Mehajer and his new girlfriend were spotted out and about in Double Bay, Sydney. On Sunday, the two were seen having coffee and juice at Indigo Cafe.

Mehajer was spotted with a “not guilty” tattoo on his calf and an ankle monitor.

Mehajer said in documents submitted to the Parramatta Local Court that he felt frightened, harassed, and dangerous when he left his house.

According to the application, Mehajer had repeatedly encountered problems with his electronics after being released from prison. It further claimed that the woman had taken over his email and Apple iCloud account by changing the password and connecting her own phone number.

Mehajer was deemed a “vexatious litigant” in 2022, and a Supreme Court judge had not given him permission to start the proceedings. As a result, the AVO was dropped last month.

According to the order, Mehajer cannot file a civil lawsuit in any NSW court until the court specifically permits it, including private AVOs.

His attempt to sue 17 defendants for $52 million over the consequences of a development project that left him destitute led to the decision.

Last month, Zali Burrows, Mehajer’s attorney, attempted to argue in court that her client was still able to initiate or pursue procedural motions in criminal proceedings despite the vexatious litigant orders.

Additionally, she asserted that if the order was made and broken, the private AVO may turn into a criminal case.

The court heard that Mehajer had tried to apply to a registrar of the Supreme Court, but the registrar lacked the authority to allow him to start the AVO.

Mehajer’s AVO application against his ex-partner, whom he had been imprisoned for assaulting, was just denied.

In July 2025, the disgraced real estate mogul and former deputy mayor of Auburn (above) was released from prison.

Mehajer had been incarcerated since November 2020 until being released. In addition to serving consecutive sentences for a number of other offenses, including domestic abuse against his ex-partner, he was imprisoned for lying to a court.

Mehajer has admitted to the fraud charges, but he has insisted that the domestic abuse convictions “simply didn’t happen.”

The Court of Criminal Appeal is currently considering his appeal against the convictions; a decision has not yet been made.

Mehajer is still prohibited from communicating with the woman or visiting the NSW Central Coast due to an AVO.

Earlier this year, he told his 127,000 Instagram followers that he was publishing a memoir and cautioned his former colleagues that “not many have made it out unscathed.”

Before the book was published, Mehajer promised to offer a number of excerpts.

It remains to be determined if he will discuss his lengthy incarceration.

During his sentence, he spent time in Sydney’s notorious Silverwater maximum-security jail and spent a week in Goulburn Supermax while traveling from Cooma.

Mehajer announced his new lover in an odd post earlier this month (see above), but her face was obscured.

Earlier this month, Mehajer posted about his new relationship on social media.

Mehajer received consecutive terms for a number of crimes, including domestic abuse against a former spouse.

In order to be away from “rapists, paedophiles, and informants,” Mehajer declined protective custody.

Before Mehajer’s release in July of last year, the NSW State Parole Authority determined that he had finished all programs available while incarcerated and that his rehabilitation would be better served in the community under the guidance of community correctional officers and a psychologist.

Mehajer’s stringent parole requirements include testing for drugs and alcohol, participating in domestic violence programs if instructed, and refraining from contacting any members of illegal motorcycle gangs.

Within hours of being released from prison, Mehajer was back on social media. “I am forever grateful,” he wrote on Instagram. “I’m determined to live up to the standards set for me.I also want to sincerely thank my family and friends for their steadfast support, as well as my legal representative, who has been there for me every step of the way.

Following his lavish $1 million wedding to Aysha Learmonth in the western suburbs of Sydney in 2015, Mehajer gained notoriety.

An entire Lidcombe street was closed for the wedding, which started with the groom arriving by helicopter and included a convoy of opulent cars and doves.

Mehajer seems unconcerned about concealing his ankle monitor among Sydney’s affluent

Mehajer distributed fictitious flyers to neighbors threatening to tow their cars if they obstructed the event, which sparked uproar.

He told the media that he wanted to be the next “superstar” and did not apologize for the pandemonium, even though it infuriated the local council and police.

Only eight months later, the couple broke up.
