The family saves a lot of money on an eco-friendly Kia after participating in an electric car trial.
Following a test drive in a zero-emission vehicle, the Banfields are leaning toward an electric vehicle for their family. Joe and Mandy, both 43, traded in their Kia Picanto and Seat Tarraco for a two-week test drive in a Kia e-Niro EV (electric vehicle).
They drove the Kia for a fortnight with their three children, Amelie, nine, Archie, six, and Ayla, four, and only plugged it in three times. The family from Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, generally spends roughly £250 per month on gasoline, but they estimate that charging the Niro cost them less than £5.
“It was extremely enjoyable, easy, and comfortable,” Mandy added. I loved driving it since I didn’t have to worry about using gasoline or contributing to carbon emissions. It felt incredibly liberating not to have to visit a gas station.
“This has confirmed our desire to purchase an electric vehicle the next time we need to replace our vehicle.”
Joe was particularly amazed by the EV’s range, which he estimated to be up to 282 miles per charge.
“I felt like I was having less of an environmental impact in town or on critical journeys compared to our fuel cars,” he said.
The family managed to operate the Kia using a trickle charger via an extension cord hooked into the mains in their garage, which they are sharing with Express readers.
“The GPS feature on the Niro tells you where the nearest charge points are,” Mandy explained, “which provided me peace of mind when driving it.”
“It was pleasant, smooth, and quiet,” Amelie noted, while Ayla stated, “I enjoyed it because it was shiny and fast.” It was the most relaxing.”
“My favorite option was ecomode since it was the best for the animals,” Archie explained.
