Interplay currently owns the rights to the popular “Earthworm Jim” game and has announced plans to revive the franchise as an Intellivision Amico exclusive.

Interplay’s newly formed TV and film studio division, as well as Passion Pictures’ animation studio, are expected to spearhead the project.

‘Earthworm Jim’s Universe’

According to Michel K Parandi, the project leader for the “Earthworm Jim” TV series, the game’s story universe still has a lot of potential.

According to the Engadget story, Parandi described it as a galaxy full of animals fighting for dominance.

Jim is said to be an earthworm in a universe where Earth is nothing more than a myth, according to Parandi.

He admitted that his search for meaning is both comical and surreal, but it is still very relatable.

However, no word on when the game will be released is available at the moment.

A two-season Warner Bros. cartoon series based on the game aired in 1995.
