A pair of three-quarter $39 tights from Target Australia designed with ‘hidden’ pockets on the thigh and back waistband are flying off shelves across the country.
The Lycra Infinity tights have received hundreds of positive five-star reviews online and on social media from happy customers who say the pants feel ‘amazing’ and ‘so comfortable’ to wear while exercising or lounging about.
Customers can also choose to purchase the full length black lycra tights for $45 each, which are just as popular.
Enhanced with ‘Lycra Black’ technology, the mid-rise fitness tights provide stretch and comfort while also creating shape.
The handy side pockets are ideal to store phones in while the back pocket is perfect for keys.
The fabric is also designed to wick moisture away to ensure the body stays dry.
‘I’ve bought so many different brands of gym leggings, cheapies, average priced and expensive, and good old target leggings have been my absolute favourite!’ one woman wrote on the Target website.
‘The quality, fit and life in them far exceeds leggings that have cost over $100.’
‘I’m really happy with the quality, comfort and fit of these tights! I wore them for a streamed workout today and was really pleased with the flexibility and the fabric quality,’ another woman said.
A third said: ‘So comfortable even though they pull you in and smooth you out ironing out all those bumpy bits, the material used will not show through when bending.’
Others highly recommended the product and said the tights are a ‘true to size’ fit but often runs large.
Suzette Cohen, Business Manager for womenswear at Target, said the lycra range was introduced as more of a performance based tight to cater for higher intensity work.
‘We think customers are loving our infinity tights because they are comfortable for everyday activities as well as higher intensity workouts,’ she said.
‘Through online reviews we know our customers love the built in hidden pockets on the thigh and back waistband for their phone and keys.
‘At Target we are able to apply some of the best quality attributes in the activewear market and make it affordable for our customers.’
Although the tights first landed in stores in September 2019, the recent surge in sales is deemed to have arisen due to lifestyle changes among customers.
This most likely occurred due to a combination of factors – such as isolation or working from home during the coronavirus crisis, an increase in the loungewear trend and social media influencers normalising wearing tights in everyday scenarios.
Due to the product’s popularity, several stores have sold out of the tights in certain sizes but are expecting to receive additional stock.
