‘Terrific day,’ says Princess Anne as she flies to Forres to pay respect to Scottish Covid heroes.

PRINCESS ANNE arrived in Forres via royal helicopter for a royal engagement, where she met the Covid heroes from the local community.

After two failed attempts due to Covid, the Queen’s daughter was finally able to visit Forres. Princess Anne arrived in Grant Park by helicopter and spent an hour in the ancient Tolbooth courtroom meeting with NHS and charity workers as well as Moray Council agents who all assisted their community during the hardest days of the pandemic.

Lorna Creswell, a Forres councillor and chairwoman of Moray Firth Credit Union, recalls to The Press and Journal, “We were in at the credit union every day during the pandemic to offer financial support.”

“No one knew what to expect in terms of helping folks get through this.”

“People were furloughed, they’d lost their jobs, they couldn’t fill out documents, they were homeschooling — it was quite difficult.”

Emma (@emseyflyerMBE), who was there at the event, published a few photos on Twitter and thanked the Princess for her participation.

A whole week of glitz and glam is over!” she said on Twitter.

According to the Forres Gazette, a crowd of roughly 50 people waited outside for Anne, who took the time to joke with a local busker on Forres High Street who was singing Flower of Scotland.

The Princess Royal then went on to launch AJ Engineering’s new complex in Waterford before traveling to Findhorn to give the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service to Moray Inshore Rescue Organisation (MIRO).

Chairman John Lowe told the Forres Gazette, “It’s been a long journey for MIRO since 2005.”
