A Sydney woman has been charged following extensive inquiries into the death of a seven week old baby two years ago.
Emergency services were called to a home in Annandale in February 2018 after the baby was reported to be unresponsive
Ambulance paramedics treated the baby boy but he died at the scene.
Leichhardt detectives established a strike force to investigate the circumstances surrounding the infant’s death after a post-mortem examination identified the presence of methylamphetamine and amphetamine.
They arrested a 40-year-old woman at a correctional facility in Silverwater on Thursday.
She was charged with using poison so as to endanger life and was refused bail to appear in Newtown Local Court on Friday.
