In response to a columnist’s allegation that supermodel Anok Yai tore a hole in her Met Gala garment in order intentionally urinate in 2024, Yai has taken aim at The Washington Post.
In a light-hearted piece about how celebs use the loo in extravagant couture, Washington Post features writer Maura Judkis seemed to connect Anok Yai, 28, to an awkward bathroom incident at the Met Gala.
The article, “How do celebrities urinate at the Met Gala?” Stylist Mickey Freeman detailed an uncomfortable wardrobe malfunction that one of his clients had to deal with in an investigation.
According to Freeman, his client made a “stunning entrance in an elaborate couture sheer mesh jumpsuit, intricately embroidered and adorned with a stunning array of hand-stitched Swarovski crystals and pearls, covering her from neck to toe.”
However, he claimed that the client was stitched into the bodysuit and that they had to rip a hole in it to use the loo because they were “swept up in the grandeur and excitement” of the gala and “had some drinks.”
“Detective Google reveals that, in 2024, model Anok Yai wore an outfit that matches this description, but Freeman declined to say who this celebrity was,” Judkis wrote in her story after citing him.
The Sudanese-American model responded on Instagram, claiming Judkis had misdiagnosed her.
She wrote, “I usually keep to myself and keep quiet.” But how can you misrepresent me and suggest that I urinated on myself and tore my costume at the 2024 Met Gala? Next time, make sure to check the facts! Are you insane?
Anok Yai, a supermodel, blasted She might have been the unidentified Met Gala visitor who tore her gown and peed on herself, according to the Washington Post.
On Instagram, Yai angrily refuted the assertion, stating, “Next time, check the facts!” Are you insane?

Freeman swiftly defended Yai, claiming that she was never the enigmatic superstar mentioned in his story. In an Instagram Story, he stated, “It was not Queen @anokyai.”
He subsequently declared that he “absolutely adores[s] Anok” and referred to the dispute as “a hilarious non-story.”
“I found it so absurd when I saw her name because she was never part of the story,” Freeman wrote.
‘Not to mention, I’ve never worked with @anokyai in any manner,’ Freeman wrote in a later post.
As the first black model to open a Prada runway show since Naomi Campbell in 1997, Yai created history in 2018.
