Sturgeon ‘Desperate’ pays tribute to the MSP who signed her to the SNP


The former MSP, KAY Ullrich, who signed up as a member of the SNP with Nicola Sturgeon and predicted she would lead the party, has died.

The death was confirmed by the First Minister to fellow ministers in the Scottish Cabinet.

She said the news “devastated” her and called Ms. Ullrich a “dear friend and one of the most influential figures in my life.”

As a “very poignant” Deputy First Minister John Swinney said it was “staunch supporter of the SNP and independence.” in Cabinet and paid tribute to Ms. Ullrich.

He tweeted, “Kay was one of our living heroes – a great friend and ally in good times and hard. Love and condolences to her family.”

From 1999 to 2003, Ms. Ullrich, who was born in 1943, was an MSP.
