Soldier plummets to the earth after his parachute fails to deploy, but he survives.

This is the horrifying moment a soldier on a parachute training course falls to the ground when his parachute fails to deploy – and luckily survives.

On Saturday, Luis Alfonso Garces Vila and his fellow soldiers were practicing at the School of Military Parachuting in Melgar, Tolima, Colombia, when they jumped from a helicopter.

When he jumped, however, his parachute allegedly failed and he fell straight to the earth, which was captured on film.

The footage of Luis’ fall appeared to show that he fell from a great height, and that he was treated and stabilized at the scene.

After that, the soldier was referred to a medical facility in Girardot, which is 45 minutes distant from Tolemaida Air Base.

According to local media reports, Luis was sent to the Central Military Hospital in Bogota, where he is being treated for many injuries and a broken leg, although his condition is stable.

According to reports, officials at the School of Military Parachuting have begun an internal investigation into why the equipment failed.

One of Luis’ backup parachutes may have opened before he reached the ground, according to reports.

The video of the fall has subsequently gone viral on Twitter, prompting one user, Agata Keyko, to comment: “Thank you, my God, for favoring our Homeland soldier. God bless you, and thank you for putting your lives on the line for our country.”
