‘She just acted!’ says Kate’s friend of the Duchess of Cambridge’s ’emotional’ public appearance.

According to a source, Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, “just acted” in the wake of Sarah Everard’s death.

Kate made a rare public show of spontaneity in mid-March of last year, when she attended a vigil held after Ms Everard’s body was discovered.

According to a source, the Duchess of Cambridge felt it was “extremely important” to join in the outpouring of grief that followed the death of the 33-year-old marketing executive.

“She just acted,” said a Duchess friend to Hello! magazine.

“Being a part of the moment was extremely important to her because she was extremely emotional about it.”

Kate’s visit was low-key, with the Duchess of Cambridge seen among the dozens of people paying tribute to Ms Everard by planting daffodils at the bandstand in Clapham Common.

Kate only discussed her attendance at the vigil with her security officers, according to the magazine.

Ms Everard’s death is thought to have had a big impact on Kate because she went missing just a few miles from where the Duchess of Cambridge used to live with her sister Pippa Middleton before her marriage to Prince William.

Kate allegedly sent Ms Everard’s family a deeply personal message a few days after the vigil, according to a source.

“This was a deeply personal and heartfelt letter, simply to express her absolute sadness at what Sarah’s family and loved ones are going through,” the source told the Mirror.

“The Duchess recognizes that no words can undo what has occurred, but she wanted to let them know that they and Sarah are on her mind.”

“She recalls what it was like to walk alone as a young woman in London and elsewhere, and she, like so many other women, has been reflecting on her experiences.”

“It was crucial for her to pay her respects in this manner.”

“This was a personal matter for her, and she wanted to show solidarity with everyone else who felt the same way.”

Ms Everard was abducted and raped by Met Police officer Wayne Couzens while walking home from a friend’s house under the guise of an arrest.

Couzens received a life sentence in late September.

Kate married the Duke of Cambridge in April 2011 and became a member of the Royal Family.

William is the second-in-line to the throne.
