‘Sexist’ camper vans slated in Worldwide Girls’s Day protest

CAMPER VAN hire company Wicked Campers have been slammed for ‘sexist’ slogans on their custom-painted motorhomes.

The colourful paint jobs on their minibuses include slogans such as ‘Life is like a bowl of soup, you only get blown if you’re hot’ and ‘Save water, have a bath with the neighbour’s daughter.’

Other slogans painted on the hire vans include“In every princess there is a little slut who wants to try it just once” and “Drink till she’s pretty”.

The company, popular with gap-year students, has come under fire from politicians and womens’ groups before, and their vans have even been banned from some music festivals.

A new initiative against the firm was launched today to tie in with International Womens Day.

Australian transport Minister Michael McCormack said: “These vehicles are offensive and belong in a junkyard, not on Australian roads.

“By choosing to avoid these vehicles, you’re also choosing to ensure parents or grandparents won’t have to explain the vile meaning of these disgusting signs or images to their children or grandchildren while driving on our roads.”

The country’s Minister for Women, Kelly O’Dwyer, echoed his views. She issued a statement saying: ”We have no tolerance for sexist, misogynistic and offensive slogans on campervans, or those displayed anywhere else for that matter, no matter how hard some try to justify their existence.”

Wicked’s response was to post a new photo on their Instagram, showing a pink van painted with the slogan ‘Girls just want to have fund$.’

Their marketing materials are all in a similar tone. One section of their website – promoting the company’s van hire business in California – reads: “Kerouac loved Big Sur and Hemingway dribbled on about the Pacific North West, now you too can cruise the amazing West Coast! From San Diego to Vancouver, the waves are awesome, the boobs are fake and the beer is weak – but damn man – it’s a good time.”
