Samsung’s Galaxy S10 5G Will Hit the UK on 7th June

5G is coming, and we’ve been told that phones will be available to buy when the first commercial 5G networks get switched on. So far only Vodafone has announced a solid release date (3rd July), while the other three have been quite vague. Whatever actually happens, though, it’s been confirmed that Samsung’s Galaxy S10 5G will be arriving in the UK quite soon. On 7th June, to be exact, nearly a month before Vodafone kicks off its 5G rollout.

The phone will be initially available from Samsung, Vodafone, and EE, which implies EE’s networks will be getting switched on sooner rather than later. The phrasing of “initially available” suggests the S10 5G will also be available from the likes of O2 and Three, but nothing remotely concrete has been announced. Don’t bet on it, especially since Three’s 5G network won’t be getting switched on for another year or so. If you plan on getting in on 5G right away, you will be able to pre-order the phone from 22nd May (next Wednesday).

It’s also worth remembering that the S10 5G isn’t just an S10 with 5G components inside. It’s a totally new phone that comes with a larger 6.7-inch display, a 4,500 mAh battery, and 3D depth cameras on both the front and back. The camera is so good DXOMark gave it an overall score of 112, tying with the Huawei P30 Pro.

Pricing has yet to be announced, but considering it costs the equivalent of £950 in Korea don’t expect it to come out cheap here in Brexit Isle. If that doesn’t put you off then you can pre-register with Samsung and Vodafone right now. EE’s 5G page doesn’t include the S10 5G, but expect that to update very soon.
