GAVIN and Stacey’s Ruth Jones has revealed her struggle to write new material with James Corden during ‘uncreative’ Zoom calls.
The pair reunited to write the hugely successful Christmas Special last year, with more than 17 million people watching it.
Fans are desperate for more episodes, and while both Ruth and James have said it won’t happen, she has now admitted they are trying to work on something new.
However, it isn’t going to plan, with Ruth telling the Sunday Telegraph’s Stellar magazine: ‘James and I did Zoom a few times. But we didn’t do any writing.
“In fact, I remember us both saying how uncreative we both felt.
“And since then we’ve not even mentioned work, just talked about the family and how we’re feeling.
“It does seem like a waste doesn’t it, not to have spent all those lockdown hours writing? But I just couldn’t get into the groove.”
She added: “It may not be Gavin and Stacey. But it’ll be something.”
The Christmas Special ended with Ruth’s character Nessa declaring her love for James’ character Smithy before proposing.
However, the episode cut off before Smithy could reply, leaving fans desperate to know what happens next.
Last month, co-star Larry Lamb – who plays Mick Shipman – discussed the prospect of a Gavin and Stacey movie.
He told Loose Women: “I remember talking to James about the whole thing of having had 10 years of being asked if it was coming back, then you do the Christmas special and you’re back answering the same question.
“It’s a drug the nation is hooked on. I don’t know if there is [a movie]. I’d love it if there is.”
