In his early years, Rupert Everett claimed to have “ruined” himself by trying to have the ideal body.
The 67-year-old star of My Best Friend’s Wedding has admitted that he worked out hard in the 1980s and 1990s in an effort to get a toned body. However, he couldn’t “be bothered” to make sure he lifted weights safely, and now he’s paying the price: “I ruined myself.” He told the Guardian, “Now I’m practically crippled as a result.”
“Because your tendons get tighter and tighter, I could never be bothered to do all those things, like stretching, which were necessary for lifting weights. It’s so boring.” None of stuff was done by me. I believe that musculoskeletal disease will be the cause of my death.
He continued by admitting that, prior to beginning weightlifting, he chose a simpler path and wore a custom-made bodysuit underneath his clothes to appear more muscular.

Rupert went on to say that he continued to wear the personalized suit while at work:
“I met these two queens who made bodysuits in Tufnell Park [north London], and they made me a false bottom, false shoulders, false calves, false everything.” He admitted, “Yes, I wore them in everything.”
He said, “No!” when asked if his directors were aware of the bodysuit. I would wear everything to the costume fittings.
Rupert has previously acknowledged that during the early years of his career, he concentrated too much on imitating Hollywood action stars like Tom Cruise.
“I should have probably concentrated harder on the stage,” the star told the Daily Mail in 2024, acknowledging that he now regrets not concentrating on his stage career earlier since he was preoccupied with big-screen stars like Tom.
“When I was younger, I was constantly attempting to become the traditional Hollywood star I wanted to be.”
“I wanted to be Tom Cruise,” he went on. However, I was a 6-foot-5-inch beanpole that resembled a hybrid of Snow White and Anne Frank.

The celebrity claims that he “never looks in the mirror if I can help it” these days.
