Putin plans to strengthen military cooperation with China in the face of Western ‘threats’ – ‘Unbreakable’

VLADIMIR Putin’s Defense Minister praised Russia’s upcoming military assistance to China, as both countries condemned America’s destabilizing actions near Chinese waters and Russian borders.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Treaty of Good Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation between Russia and China, and the two countries have unveiled new plans for a joint military strategy.

The military leaders made strong allegations against what they called American attempts to impose “disruption and sabotage of regional peace and stability” in a video call on Tuesday between Chinese Defense Minister Wei Fenghe and Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.

Prior to the conference, a Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman, Senior Colonel Shi Yi, issued a statement blasting America for navigating its guided-missile destroyer USS Milius through the Taiwan Strait, which separates the Chinese mainland from the self-governing island.

“This action by the US side created security risks and undermined regional stability,” Shi Yi said.

The troops of the PLA Eastern Theater Command will take all necessary precautions to resolutely counter all threats and provocations, as well as to protect China’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

Tensions on the island have been rising since President Xi Jinping pledged in 2019 to “reunify” Taiwan with the Chinese mainland, if necessary through force.

In 1979, Washington severed diplomatic ties with Taipei in favor of Beijing, but the two countries have maintained unofficial ties that have grown stronger in recent years as relations with Beijing have deteriorated.

The USS Milius, according to America, passed “through international waters in accordance with international law.”

“The US warships have repeatedly flexed muscles, made provocations, and stirred up trouble in the Taiwan Strait in the name of ‘freedom of navigation,” said Zhao Lijian, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

“The US side should correct its mistakes immediately, stop provocation, challenging the bottom line, and playing with fire, and play a more constructive role in regional peace and stability.”

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has leveled similar charges against the US.

“We notice a significant increase in American strategic bomber aviation near Russia’s borders,” he said.

Approximately 30 sorties to the Russian Federation’s borders have been conducted in the last month, which is 2.5 times more than the same period last year.

“The option of using nuclear weapons against 10 strategic bombers was practiced.”
