The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office is looking for two suspects who evaded capture after a pursuit on Interstate 10 Thursday afternoon, the agency said.
The pursuit started around 3:30 p.m., on a stretch of freeway that runs through the Gila River Indian Community, when Sheriff’s deputies attempted a traffic stop, officials said.
Instead of pulling over, the vehicle continued westbound on I-10, swerving, driving on the shoulder, and performing other erratic maneuvers, said Navideh Forghani, a Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.
For safety, deputies backed off of the pursuit once it began heading into Maricopa County, officials said.
The vehicle eventually exited at Riggs Road and east into the Sun Lakes area, where it was involved in a three-vehicle crash, officials said.
The two people, a man and woman, then ran away into the Sun Lakes community, Forghani said.
A search was conducted, but the pair could not be found.
Police released photos of the two suspects taken by a Ring doorbell camera, officials said.
