Princess Beatrice has won the new royal wedding crown, defeating Diana and Meghan Markle.
PRINCESS Beatrice has won one of the top spots in a royal wedding study, beating out other royal women such as Princess Diana and Meghan Markle.
Monthly Google searches for the wedding gowns of the most high-profile royal women were analyzed by wedding printing and photography experts Printique.
According to the data, Kate, Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding gown was the most popular in the UK, with Princess Beatrice’s coming in second, ahead of Meghan Markle and the Queen.
In 2011, Kate and Prince William married at Westminster Abbey in London.
Kate wore an Alexander McQueen lace bridal gown for the occasion, which receives 14,000 monthly searches – more than triple the total number of searches for all royal gowns on the list.
The dress was estimated to cost £250,000 and featured an elegant Victorian bodice, a delicate V-neckline, and long, lace-embroidered sleeves.
Princess Beatrice’s wedding gown is the second most Googled in the country, trailing only Princess Diana, Meghan Markle, and even the Queen.
Beatrice, 33, married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, a property developer, in July 2020.
During the Covid pandemic, the couple held a pared-down service at Royal Lodge’s Royal Chapel of All Saints.
Sarah Ferguson, Prince Andrew’s eldest daughter, wears a bridal gown that receives 11,000 monthly searches, nearly three times the monthly average for all royal wedding gowns.
Beatrice wore a Norman Hartnell vintage gown with Peau De Soie taffeta and diamante accents for the occasion.
Her gown was also steeped in history, as it had been borrowed from her grandmother, the Queen.
Royal designers Angela Kelly and Stewart Parvin redesigned the bridal gown, which features an elegant, fitted bodice and a gently flared skirt.
The designers added organza sleeves to the gown to make it more modern for Beatrice’s special day.
Beatrice also chose to wear the same diamond fringe wedding tiara worn by Her Majesty on her wedding day to Prince Philip in 1947, as a special tribute to the Queen.
In July 2020, searches for “vintage style wedding dress” increased by 228 percent worldwide as a result of Beatrice’s choice of gown.
“Royal wedding gowns represent some of the most extraordinary pieces of couture in history,” a Printique spokesperson said in response to the findings.
The fact that Princess Beatrice’s wedding gown is the most Googled in the UK, surpassing both Princess Diana’s and Princess Elizabeth’s.
