The Duke of Sussex has been accused by some royal fans as “doing what he is told” by Meghan Markle after the couple revealed they would be becoming investors in ‘Ethic’, a sustainable investment firm
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have announced they will be becoming investors of a sustainable investment firm, but some royal fans have claimed the prince is just “doing what he’s told” by wife Meghan.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed they have become “impact partners” and are putting money into a firm called Ethic, the Mirror reported.
They announced their move into the finance world on their Archewell website and said the new project would help them “put their values into action”.
But some royal fans have responded negatively on Twitter, claiming that Meghan Markle is choosing the path for the pair of them and Harry is following.
One Twitter user joked: “‘Sustainable investing’ translation: Do as Meghan tells you to do.”
Another user rudely jibed: “Harry and Meghan, saving the world, one private jet at a time.”
A statement from the couple said: “When we invest in each other we change the world…
“Be it through the investment of time (as with mentoring), investment in community (as with volunteering), or the investment of funds (for those who have the means to), our choices—of how and where we put our energy—define us as a global community.
“We believe it’s time for more people to have a seat at the table when decisions are made that impact everyone. We want to rethink the nature of investing to help solve the global issues we all face.
“Our impact partnership with Ethic is one of the ways we put our values in action.”
Their move into ‘sustainable investing’ comes after royal expert Gertrude Daly claimed the couple needed to put their “words into action” if they were going to ride on private jets.
The explosive statement came after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were snapped landing in California on their private jet following their whirlwind three-day trip to New York City.
Harry and Meghan were pictured leaving the lavish jet and affectionately embracing members of staff who had travelled with them on the trip.
Gertrude Daly, who runs the Gert’s Royal podcast, claims the couple need to back up their tough words on climate change “not just when it is convenient or by throwing money at it”.
