Police swoop on a home after a horror car crash and find a woman, 78, dead.

Police have launched a MURDER investigation after an elderly woman was discovered dead at a Herefordshire address.

A 48-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the investigation, according to West Mercia Police.

Following a call to a car crash on Eye Lane in Moreton Eye near Luston, the 78-year-old’s body was discovered.

At 8 a.m. this morning, the police department received a report of a collision with a telegraph pole on the street.

Officers responded to the call and attended an address in Moreton Eye with members of the West Midlands Ambulance Service “following enquiries.”

“Sadly, a 78-year-old woman from Hereford was discovered dead at the address,” it added in a statement.

The death is now being treated as a homicide, and the suspect “remains in custody.”

Officers are still on the scene as the investigation continues.

“We responded to a road traffic accident on Eye Lane, Moreton Eye, near Leominster, at 8.34 a.m. this morning,” West Midlands Ambulance Service said in a statement to the Hereford Times.

“Two ambulances arrived and assessed one man who had minor injuries before releasing him on the scene.”

“While we were on the scene, police requested that we go to an address in Moreton, where an ambulance and paramedic officer were waiting.”

“Unfortunately, ambulance crews confirmed a woman’s death at the location.”

In the Herefordshire countryside, Eye lane runs alongside the small village of Eye.

It’s about a 35-minute drive from Hereford, and it’s located between Leominster and Ludlow.
