Police rush in on a bomb scare in Rochdale, locking down streets and evacuating residents.
Bomb squads descended on Rochdale as police blocked off a wide residential area, forcing residents to “evacuate.”
A big area has been sealed off by police, according to residents on Clark Street and Dover Street. People may have been evacuated from their homes, according to some reports, although this has yet to be confirmed.
“Police have encircled Dover Block in Rochdale and are evacuating the entire street,” one neighbor reported.
A Royal Logistics Corps van may be seen parked at the location.
Police have supposedly “discovered a grenade,” according to Kit Vickery of the Manchester Evening News.
The Manchester Fire Department was also said to be on the site.
The MEN, on the other hand, reported that emergency services appeared to have departed the area.
