‘Police officer killed his three-year-old son before taking his own life.’

A POLICE OFFICER is suspected of murdering his three-year-old kid and then killing himself at their house.

On Friday, David Louden, 39, and his son Harrison were found dead in their Kidderminster, Worcestershire, home. Outside their home, heartfelt tributes to David, a serving West Mercia Police officer, and Harrison have been placed.

According to Birmingham Live, police are now examining the killings as a murder-suicide.

“West Mercia Police are now treating the death of Harrison as a suspected murder and the death of David as a suspected suicide,” Assistant Chief Constable Damian Barratt stated.

“On Friday, August 13, 2021, David Louden and his three-year-old son, Harrison, were tragically found dead at their house in Kidderminster. The deaths were ruled inexplicable at the time, and an investigation was initiated into the circumstances.

“Post-mortem examinations have been completed, and the investigating team, working with the coroner, is confident that no additional parties were involved.

“However, safeguarding assessments are currently underway, and an inquest will be held to make an official determination, therefore we are unable to comment further on the circumstances or the investigation at this time.

“This is a terrible tragedy, and our hearts go out to David and Harrison’s families and friends. They have asked that they be given time to grieve.”

After receiving reports of worry for the family’s wellbeing, police and paramedics arrived at the home around 9.21 a.m.

Samantha, David’s wife, led a tribute to her husband and son, as well as their extended family.

She and other family members expressed their “great shock, grief, and devastation at the loss of two deeply loved family members” in a statement.

They said, “David was an outstanding father, husband, son, brother, uncle, friend, and colleague who was kind, loving, caring, and amazing father, husband, son, brother, uncle, friend, and colleague.”

“Harrison was a cheerful, well-liked youngster. They will both be missed and adored for the rest of their lives.”

A soft cuddly elephant toy with the slogan “Rest in peace, sleep well” was placed at the scene, along with several bouquets of flowers. We’ll keep you in our thoughts and prayers.”

“To family and friends,” read another note. We’re all thinking of you and are sad for your loss.

“My heart breaks for you all; it’s a terrible tragedy. Both of their lives were cut short far too soon.”
