PM backs under-fire police head Cressida Dick for re-election.
The Prime Minister has backed Cressida Dick, who is rumored to be running for re-election as the Metropolitan Police Commissioner.
The under-fire commissioner “continues to have the PM’s complete confidence,” according to Boris Johnson’s spokeswoman. Sadiq Khan backed her up as well. “We have the best police force in the world,” he declared.
Ms Dick, 60, was created a Dame Commander by the Prince OFWALEs yesterday, according to the Mayor of London.
“I’m accepting it on behalf of all my dedicated colleagues who have given me great support and been brilliant for the past 40 years,” she remarked.
“It’s a tremendous honour to be performing my job, and I’m extremely happy,” she continued.
She has recently come under fire, with allegations of harsh police actions at the vigil for killed Sarah Everard.
Prince Charles knighted NHS chief executive Simon Stevens for his services to the NHS in England at a ceremony at St James’s Palace.
He also gave Nigel Slater, a culinary writer and chef, an OBE.
