PIERS Morgan has avoided a fine and penalty points after he was caught speeding in his £150k Aston Martin.
The Good Morning Britain host, 55, has revealed that he has taken a speed awareness course online following the incident.
Taking to Twitter today, Piers wrote: “Just completed an online speed awareness course… on Zoom.”
Those who take the course have to pay for it but it can sometimes be just as much as the fine – but speeders do avoid getting penalty points on their licence.
Fans were quick to comment, with one joking: “It’s a speed limit Piers, not a speed target.”
Another wrote: “That was fast.”
GMB co-star Alex Beresford could not resist a cheeky joke, tweeting: “Did you race through it?”
Earlier this year, Piers was slammed by fans after he showed off his freshly cleaned Aston Martin while many of them were struggling to pay their bills due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Posting a picture of the shiny £150,000 vehicle on his social media pages, Piers wrote: “I never knew how much I’d miss a car wash.
“Thank to the guys @atlanticcarwash for restoring my Aston to its former glory after Lockdown rendered it an unsightly stained blot on vehicular humanity.”
Piers added: “It’s a great place just off the Fulham Palace Road. Highly recommend. 👍”
Piers was hit was a barrage of comments describing his post as ‘disgusting’ and asking if his visit to the west London car wash earlier today was “essential” during the current lockdown.
But some were upset, one wrote: “Ok for some while others are worried about paying essential bills.”
Piers returned to his Sussex home last week following his luxury Saint Tropez holiday in the south of France.
The TV star made a quick dash back to the UK to avoid a two-week quarantine, meaning he had to unexpectedly cut short his getaway as the decision loomed over coronavirus travel restrictions.
Although Piers is bound to be disappointed, fans are desperate to have him closer to home.
And thankfully, they don’t have too much longer to wait, with the star due back on our screens alongside Good Morning Britain co-star Susanna Reid on Tuesday.
