On Monday, King Charles awarded Phil Spencer an MBE in recognition of his efforts as the patron of the nonprofit organization St. Mungo’s.

The TV personality, best known for co-presenting Channel 4’s Location, Location, Location with Kirstie Allsopp for 25 years, held his investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle.

The 56-year-old Phil, who became a patron of St Mungo’s in 2010, once said that getting an MBE was “one hell of a thing and overwhelming,” especially since the cause “is very close to my heart.”

The organization provides emergency housing, chances to acquire new skills, and creative housing projects to individuals experiencing homelessness and rough sleeping in Greater London.

Prior to being well-known on television, he ran a company in the 1990s that found homes for the “very wealthy” and made the decision to put a portion of each sale “back into the bottom end of the market.” This is how he first got involved with the charity.

During his milestone day on Monday, Phil, who has two sons with his wife of 24 years, Fiona, missed his parents, who perished in a fatal river crash in 2023.

The TV personality, who gained notoriety for co-presenting Channel 4’s Location, Location, Location with Kirstie Allsopp for 25 years, held his investitures ceremony at Windsor Castle.

In Littlebourne, Kent, his mother Anne’s automobile overturned a bridge and fell into the Nailbourne River, killing both his mother and father.

Following the tragedy, Phil gave a heartfelt homage to his parents, stating that they “would have held hands under the water and quietly slipped away.”

Meanwhile, Phil and Kirstie recently commemorated the 25th anniversary of their Channel 4 property show, Location, Location, Location.

The TV pair disclosed the true nature of their relationship last year when they acknowledged that they don’t spend time together outside of work.

When Phil missed Kirstie’s wedding in January 2025, the hosts of Location, Location, Location faced criticism.

The star’s co-host was conspicuously absent from the celebrations as she married property millionaire Ben Anderson in a covert ceremony at Grosvenor Chapel in Mayfair.

It was eventually discovered, though, that the occasion was so shrouded in secrecy that even guests didn’t realize they were attending a wedding until the very last minute.

Despite being close friends for 25 years, Phil and Kirstie claimed that they never socialize outside of work.

In 2010, Phil became a patron of St Mungo’s. He had earlier said that getting an MBE was “one hell of a thing and overwhelming,” especially as the cause “is very close to my heart.”

When he established a company that found properties for the “very wealthy” and made the decision to put a portion of every sale “back into the bottom end of the market,” he began working with the charity.

“We don’t socialize, because we work so much together,” Kirstie admitted in an interview with The Telegraph.

“But we’re very, very fond of each other,” Phil continued. Nobody other has experienced this. Kirstie is one of the most significant individuals in my life.

Kirstie said, “In the most significant parts of our lives, we’ve been there for each other.” The two have supported one another through their most trying times. One of the first persons I believe I told I was pregnant was Phil.
