Penny Lancaster reveals that when she met Rod Stewart at the age of 28, she just wanted to have some fun.
PENNY LANCASTER has admitted that when she met her now-husband Sir Rod Stewart at the age of 28 in 1999, after ending a long-term romance, she was only seeking for “fun.”
Penny Lancaster, 50, has revealed how she met her rocker husband Rod Stewart for the first time when she was 28 years old. When she met the Maggie May hitmaker, who was 53 at the time and had recently ended his eight-year marriage to his second wife Rachel Hunter, the mother-of-two stated that she had just gotten out of a long-term relationship and was merely looking to “have fun.”
But I’d recently ended a nine-year relationship and was looking for a good time.
In a new interview, the celebrity, who is now a special constable in the police force, said she never imagined she’d wind up married to the singer-songwriter.
“I never anticipated it would be what it is now, who would?” she stated, referring to her 14-year marriage to Rod.
“But I’d recently ended a nine-year relationship and wanted to have some fun without obsessing over what would happen next.”
Penny went on to say that being in a long-distance relationship with the celebrity helped them get closer.
“I think what worked for us was that we had a long-distance relationship for the first year,” she explained.
“I became a mature student once I stopped modeling at 25.”
Penny revealed that they became friends because of their similar passion of painting and would see each other every few months.
“I was studying photography in England and he was working full-time in America, so I’d travel out at half-term,” she explained.
“Otherwise, we’d be on the phone all day.”
She told The Daily Mail Weekend Magazine, “I knew he had a tremendous appreciation of Pre-Raphaelite art and we had the same book that we’d flip through together.”
On ITV’s Loose Women, the couple previously discussed how they met for the first time.
Penny and her friends appeared together and Penny revealed how she approached the musician to beg for his signature after being dared by her friends.
“It was a dare from a friend to walk up and ask for his autograph, and then I got an offer to go the next night,” she explained.
