Pauline Hanson, the leader of One Nation, has stated that she has what it takes to be prime minister and that she could assemble a capable cabinet to manage the country.
“I believe that I have the ability to do it,” Senator Hanson told Sky News on Sunday. “I’m not going to underestimate myself or say no, I can’t do it, because … have a look at what we’ve got now… and that’s why we’re in a mess.” “Whether it’s Pauline Hanson as prime minister or we’ve got someone else to take on that job… I’ll determine who is the most qualified to perform it.
According to a recent RedBridge/Accent Research poll, if an election were to take place right now, One Nation might secure up to 59 seats in parliament, leaving Labor with a small majority, the Liberals with a few seats, and the Nationals with none.
The fiercely conservative previous owner of a fish and chip shop expressed confidence. “I’m getting a great team around me, and even those members of parliament that I have now, they’re great, down-to-earth – the experience and knowledge they have behind them, it’s marvellous,” Senator Hanson stated. If the party were to win power, One Nation MPs would be able to build a capable cabinet.
Pauline Hanson (pictured) declared that she would not “knock the job” of prime minister.
“I’m not making a decision now and I’m not going to tell anyone what I’m doing at this moment because I haven’t clearly made up my mind,” stated Senator Hanson, who once more stated that she was thinking about moving to the lower house at the next election but did not specify which seat she intended to run for.
Australia’s prime minister typically sits in the lower house rather than the Senate.
When questioned about her party’s position on Muslim immigration, Senator Hanson stated that she wants to outlaw the burqa and left open the possibility of preventing citizens of specific nations from entering Australia.
“I would probably prohibit people from certain countries from entering Australia if they are radical Islamists whose ideology is incompatible with our nation,” she stated.
The One Nation leader also defended her relationship with mining tycoon Gina Rinehart, who has flown Senator Hanson to rallies in Australia and overseas and recently gave the party a million-dollar private jet.
Senator Hanson stated, “I’ve been open and honest with it. I appreciate the support she’s given me.” I’m not sure why some people find it problematic that I have a plane that allows me to travel to rural places.
Pauline Hanson (pictured) justified her use of a jet that Gina Rinehart gave her, saying that there was no expense to the taxpayer. The cost of the fuel is not your responsibility.
The wealthiest person in Australia, Ms. Rinehart was once a fervent Liberal Party supporter.
