Owen Cooper finished his awards season clean sweep at Sunday’s BAFTA TV Awards, making him one of the most awarded young performers in history.
However, the 16-year-old Adolescence star still has a busy few weeks ahead of him because he is now doing his GCSE examinations, which are scheduled for May 4–June 26, 2026.
In January, at the height of awards season, the adolescent was taking his mock tests while also going to the US to pick up gongs.
This week, he will return to school in Warrington, Cheshire, following a glamorous evening at London’s Royal Festival Hall.
The young celebrity won Best Supporting Actor at the final awards event for the popular Netflix series on Sunday.
In addition to receiving critical acclaim for his portrayal as murder suspect Jamie Miller opposite Stephen Graham, Owen made history earlier this year when he became the youngest recipient of the Best Supporting Actor award at both the Golden Globes and the Emmy Awards.

At the age of sixteen, he has already earned a BAFTA for his debut acting job, making him one of the most awarded young actors.
When Adolescence was being filmed, Owen was just 14 years old. He received tuition on site to help him stay on top of his coursework.
Additionally, Owen revealed his plans to do his GCSEs and subsequently drop out of school during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show in December, saying, “I still have my GCSEs to do.” He stated, “I only have about six months left before I’m gone, and then hopefully I’m going to be an actor.”

Christine Tremarco, who portrayed Owen’s mother in the film, unexpectedly defeated co-star Erin Doherty, who had already won both the Golden Globe and the Emmy Award, for Best Supporting Actress.
In the Limited Drama category, the Netflix series triumphed over Fought The Law (ITV), Trespasses (Channel 4), and What It Feels Like For A Girl (BBC Three).
