Now THAT’S a beach house: Myer mogul puts his lavish Tuscan-inspired Sydney mansion on the market

A luxurious Tuscan inspired dream house has been put on the market by the former boss of Myer department stores.

The large 2,370sqm estate features beach views, landscaped gardens, a heated pool with waterslide, and the six bedroom and five bathroom residence.

The property, in Palm Beach on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, was bought by former Myer chairman Bill Wavish in 2009 for $5.4million.

A wave of for-sale listings has appeared in the usually tightly held Palm Beach area in 2020, with 104 listings on realestate.com.au for the exclusive area as of Tuesday.

The two storey house, built with a mix of timber, natural stone, glass and brick, has been described as one of ‘one of the most spectacular’ in Sydney.

The outdoor spaces also include a basketball court, a large manicured lawn with panoramic views, and terraces with imported Moroccan tiles perfect for weekend brunches.

The central kitchen flows onto a large terrace with pizza oven and includes a huge island bench, while the adjoining dining room features a vaulted curved timber ceiling.

A two car garage, sunken lounge room and separate media room are also on located the first floor while the bedrooms are situated upstairs.

The grounds were once famously used to host the engagement party of former Myer brand ambassador Jennifer Hawkins and Jake Wall in 2011.

Mr Wavish who has held top positions at Myer along with Woolworths and the Warriors rugby league team and his wife Vonnie also have another property on the market.

Their even more lavish waterfront Sydney Harbour mansion has been on the market for two years with a price guide in the $35million range.

That Kurraba Point property features four levels that were attached townhouses before a construction project turned them into a huge Californian style waterfront mansion.

While the property has not yet sold, if it reached anywhere it’s $35million asking price it would be a new record for area.

The Palm Beach house is listed with LJ Hooker in conjunction with Ray White and is for sale by expressions of interest with an exact value not released.
