Nabil Fekir to snub Arsenal interest for La Liga and could trigger Tottenham transfer

NABIL FEKIR is ready to snub a move to Arsenal in favour of seeking a move to La Liga, which in turn could help Tottenham secure their transfer target.

Arsenal were considering making an offer for Nabil Fekir after Lyon offered the player to them for £30million.

Fekir was close to coming to the Premier League last summer when Liverpool were on the verge of completing a £53m deal for the player, but the deal collapsed after the France international failed a medical.

Lyon are still willing to let the attacking player leave the club, as he just has one year remaining on his current contract, however Fekir reportedly favours a move to Spain over England.

According to French publication LeParisien, Lyon are in ‘advanced’ talks with Real Betis over a transfer with the Spanish side needing to pay just £27m to see the deal completed.

The report claims Fekir is being offered an annual salary of £6m as part of a five-year deal.

If the transfer goes through it could benefit Tottenham as they are interested in Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso.

The 23-year-old has caught the interest of several clubs with his performances for Los Verdiblancos, with both Spurs and Manchester United monitoring Lo Celso after he scored 16 goals in 45 games last season.

Tottenham have already seen an opening bid of £52m rejected by Real Betis, who are holding out for around £67m according to reports in Spain.

If they did receive such a bid it would mark a hefty profit for the Spanish side as they only signed Lo Celso this summer for £20m.

However, after Spurs have already spent a large amount on their transfer budget bringing in two players, the club could end up selling several players in order to fund further signings.

Tottenham have signed Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon for £58m and Jack Clarke from Leeds United for a fee believed to be around £10m before add-ons.

As a result Kieran Trippier, Danny Rose and Christian Eriksen could all be shown the exit to make way for new arrivals.

Tottenham hope they will be able to raise a large amount from the sale of Eriksen, despite the Dane entering the final year of his contract at the club.

The 27-year-old has remained reluctant to renew his contract and as Spurs don’t want to risk him leaving on a free next season, club chairman Daniel Levy is looking at options to sell their talented playmaker.

Real boss Zinedine Zidane is reportedly showing some interest in adding the Denmark international to his new-look team, but there are rumours the Frenchman would prefer Los Blancos to sign Man United’s Paul Pogba over Eriksen.

However, with Levy reportedly lowering his asking price of the Dane from £134m to £62m, the playmaker would be a significantly cheaper option, given Real have already spent over £250m on players this summer and Pogba is valued at around £150m.
