‘Migrants and terrorists will both flow!’ Pakistan has warned the United Kingdom against isolating the Taliban.
According to Pakistan’s Security Adviser Dr Moeed Yusuf, if Britain chooses to isolate the Taliban, terrorism and immigration will “flood” into the UK.
In an interview with Sky News on Sunday, the security adviser gave a severe warning to the west, claiming that if western countries turn their backs on Afghanistan, another “9/11” will occur. He warned that isolating the Taliban in the region through a process of “complete abandonment” will result in unprecedented migration flows into Western countries and an increase in terrorism. Dr. Yusuf cautioned the UK not to repeat “that mistake,” which resulted in the country becoming a haven for international terrorists.
“What do you think will happen if there is no money in Afghanistan, if there is no administration, if ISIS-K and Al-Qaeda and others take root?” asked Dr. Moved Yusuf.
He emphasized that any potential migratory catastrophe that arises in Afghanistan will not be “regionalized.”
Migrants “will flow, terrorists will flow,” the security adviser said, adding that no country wants it to happen.
He went on to say that the west should not repeat the mistake of decades ago, when Afghanistan was isolated and turned into a hotbed of violence.
“The perils of desertion that came about in the 1990s, there was a breakdown of law and order, there was a breakdown of security,” Dr Yusuf explained.
“There were international terrorists who established themselves, an economic catastrophe, and a governance issue…
“At the end of the day, there was September 11th.”
Dr. Kim Howells, a Labour MP, recently urged that the UK should financially back the Taliban.
“Quite frankly, I think we should be focussing now on how we deal with the Taliban, on how we try to aid people within Afghanistan by other means,” Dr Howells told LBC on Sunday.
“Of certainly, finance is one of them.”
He stated that the Taliban will “require money” to rebuild Afghanistan and urged that the UK assist in this effort.
Dr. Howells went on to say that providing financial support to the Taliban would allow them to “govern efficiently.”
He went on to say that financial support was crucial as part of the UK’s commitment to the Afghan people, as was “pressure” on the Taliban to ensure the UK did not leave Afghanistan. “Brinkwire News in Condensed Form.”
