Meghan Markle’s blunt advice from Paul O’Grady to avoid ‘riling up’ the Queen.

Meghan Markle’s blunt advice from Paul O’Grady on how to avoid ‘riling up’ the Queen.

According to an unearthed column, Paul O’Grady once advised Meghan Markle to avoid “riling up” the Queen.

The 66-year-old English comedian and presenter is best known as Lily Savage, a drag queen.

Paul starred as Lily in his own BBC series in the 1990s before moving on to other television roles, including hosting his own Channel 4 chat show.

He’ll be back on ITV this evening for his long-running series, ‘Paul O’Grady: For the Love of Dogs.’

Paul examines the work of Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in animal care in this episode.

He is charmed by a seriously ill four-month-old shih-tzu in the most recent episode.

A pair of chihuahuas join the star, and a lively crossbreed puts his abilities to the test.

Paul’s Lily Savage alter ego was known for his sharp tongue, and he has kept his sense of humour to this day.

The presenter once gave Meghan Markle some humorous advice on how to get along with the Queen.

In May 2018, Meghan married Prince Harry, the Queen’s grandson, and became a member of the Royal Family.

Paul offered his advice to avoid “riling up” Her Majesty in unearthed comments from June that year.

“The Queen is easy to get along with!” he wrote in a column for the TV Times.

“She appreciates someone who can make her laugh, so be completely honest with her.”

“Avoid using too many American idioms; always remember to say ‘lavatory,’ not ‘bathroom,’ or you’ll irritate her.”

Meghan would likely win royal approval if she could share the Queen’s passion for equestrianism, according to Paul, who is an animal lover.

“Become a horsewoman if you can,” Paul said, referring to the monarch’s fondness for horses.

“That family adores horses, and the Queen enjoys discussing land and animals!”

Paul also stated that instead of listening to what others have to say, Harry and Meghan should enjoy each other’s company.

“You don’t have to do anything,” he said.

“You’re a perfect couple with a wonderful marriage – just don’t let outside influences affect you.”

Last year, Meghan and Harry resigned from their royal roles, and it was announced this year that they would not return as working royals.

During their relationship, the couple has both spoken out about the pressures of being in the public eye.
