MEGHAN Markle tearfully said “it didn’t have to be this way” in her final meeting with staff before Megxit, a bombshell biography has claimed.
In March, the Duchess of Sussex said a heartfelt goodbye to her team at Buckingham Palace before flying back to Canada to be reunited with baby Archie.
Omid Scobie – who co-authored the biography Finding Freedom – was one of the few journalists to attend Meghan’s final engagement as a senior working royal at Buckingham Palace.
In the biography, Omid recalled Meghan’s tearful farewell to staff who had worked with the couple since their wedding less than two years before.
He wrote: “Staff who had been with the couple from day one were mourning the end of what was supposed to be a happy story: two people fall in love, get married, have a baby, serve the Queen, the end.
“Instead, they were leaving the country.”
What’s more, the author claims that Meghan hugged him goodbye and tearfully told him: “It didn’t have to be this way.”
The book also claims Meghan told a friend that The Queen’s decision to strip Prince Harry of his military appointments was “so unnecessary”.
The Duchess allegedly said: “It’s not just taking something away from him, it’s also that entire military veteran community.
“You can see how much he means to them, too. So why? The powers [of the monarchy] are unfortunately greater than me.”
Earlier this summer, the royal couple moved into a £11m home in Santa Barbara after their stay in Tyler Perry’s £14m LA mansion.
In more Royal Family news, Meghan Markle’s ‘former’ pal Jessica Mulroney posted a wedding pic of Duchess & says it brings ‘pure joy’ following fallout.
And Meghan Markle & Prince Harry were in hysterics on wedding day as James Corden ‘dressed as Henry VIII’, a biography has claimed.
Plus Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s love for one another is ‘stronger than ever’ since quitting royal life, an expert has claimed.
