HARRY SCOUTED ENGAGEMENT RING SIX MONTHS AFTER MEETING MEGHAN, CLAIMS BOOK
Prince Harry scouted for a diamond engagement ring just six months after meeting Meghan Markle, it has been claimed.
And the couple were reportedly so smitten with each other that they openly started talking about their wedding a year after meeting.
The Duke of Sussex met the Suits star at a blind date in July 2016 – with Prince Harry saying “I love you” just three months later.
New biography Finding Freedom, released today, claimed Harry had even started to search for a ring by May 2017 – sourcing a “conflict-free” diamond while on a secret scouting trip to Africa with a pal.
And by June 2017, Meghan and Harry were speaking with palace aides about when the best time for a wedding ceremony would be.
MEGHAN’S FORMER BEST PAL JESSICA MULRONEY BREAKS INSTAGRAM SILENCE AFTER RACISM ROW
Jessica Mulroney has broken her silence to reveal she was “in the worst state” following her racism backlash and fallout with former best friend, Meghan Markle.
The embattled stylist, who has not been since in public in months, made a return to Instagram on Tuesday to celebrate her twin sons, Brian and John, turning 10, sharing a video of her husband Ben carrying a birthday cake into their garden in Toronto.
In an emotional message, she wrote: “Happy 10th to my twin babies. My incredible family have had to witness mom in the worst state.
“These two boys have not left my side and gave me the will to live and work hard when everything fell apart. They deserve the best birthday. Only up from here.”
Fans were quick to welcome Jessica back to the social media platform after the scandal involving black influencer Sasha Exeter, who accused her of abusing her white privilege in an epic social media showdown.
PRINCESS EUGENUE WAS ‘UPSET MEGHAN REVEALED PREGNANCY AT HER WEDDING’ BOOK CLAIMS
Princess Eugenie was left upset after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry broke the news they were expecting a baby at her wedding, it was claimed today.
The explosive allegations were detailed in the new biography Finding Freedom, with it claimed the decision “did not go down particularly well”.
Meghan and Harry told friends and family that the duchess was pregnant at Eugenie’s big day at St George’s chapel at Windsor in October 2018.
But authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand said in the biography: “A source said [Princess Eugenie] told friends she felt the couple should have waited to share the news”.
It was claimed that Harry, 35, had previously always been close with Eugenie, saying the pair were the “closest of friends”.
MEGHAN HUNG OUT WITH AMAL CLOONEY WHILE GEORGE AND HARRY RACED MOTOBIKES IN LAKE COMO, BOOK CLAIMS
The Sussexes jetted out and joined the A-list celebs in their Italian villa, where they also ran into Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank.
Finding Freedom, which is out today, claims George Clooney, 59, arranged for Harry and Meghan, who tied the knot at St George’s Chapel in Windsor in 2018, to fly to Lake Como on his private jet on August 16.
Authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand say the couple weren’t the only royal guests invited to stay at the Clooney’s Villa Oleandra – because their visit overlapped with Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s stay too.
During the three-day visit, a source said: “Meghan and Amal spent a lot of time relaxing by the pool and playing with the twins while George and Harry checked out George’s motorbike collection.”
MEGHAN SAYS SHE WILL VOTE IN US ELECTIONS AFTER ‘FEELING VOICELESS’
Meghan today revealed she would be voting in the 2020 US elections as she declared she knew “what it’s like to feel voiceless”.
The Duchess of Sussex urged others to “exercise their fundamental right” as America heads to the polls in November.
The 39-year-old, who is currently living in LA with husband Prince Harry, revealed to Marie Claire in a rare interview that
She said: “I know what it’s like to have a voice, and also what it’s like to feel voiceless.
“I also know that so many men and women have put their lives on the line for us to be heard.”
MEGHAN WAS ‘FURIOUS’ WITH HER SIBLINGS OVER ‘ABSURD’ CLAIMS
The Duchess of Sussex was “furious” with her brother and sister when they started making “absurd claims” against her, a new book has claimed.
Prince Harry could also not believe how “badly” Meghan’s family behaved after they gave a series of interviews accusing the duchess of shunning Samantha because of her MS – and ignoring their dad, according to the bombshell biography Finding Freedom, published today.
The actress had not seen her “estranged” half-sister Samantha in more than a decade and had only crossed paths with her twice since growing up, the book claims.
In a chapter called “A Problem Like Samantha” a “confidant” accuses Meghan’s sister of trying to pretend the pair were close siblings with a “Kate and Pippa dynamic”.
“That’s not the case,” the confidant told authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand. “Meg didn’t grow up with Samantha. She barely saw her.”
HARRY & MEGHAN’S DOG NAME MEANS ‘PENIS’ IN ROMANIAN
Pals of the former royal couple said they christened their Labrador Pula after the currency in Botswana, where they dated.
But Romanians are slating the pair as it means something a lot more crass in their language.
One Romanian Twitter user said: “Surely someone in their group would have Googled Pula to ensure it wasn’t Romanian for penis?”
Another critic of the name tweeted: “Quite a shock to see it in print…!!!” Harry, 35, and Meghan, 39, adopted their black Labrador in 2018 just after they got married but refused to publicly disclose its name.
MEGHAN AND HARRY WERE TOLD ‘NOT TO DEFEND THEMSELVES’ AFTER ‘DUCHESS DIFFICULT’ REPORTS
Meghan, 39, was reportedly given the nickname by staff after demanding behaviour and aides quitting.
As Harry and Meghan’s unauthorised biography Finding Freedom was released today one of its authors, Omid Scobie, gave an interview to Andi Peters on the Lorraine show this morning.
He said much of the couple’s decision to step down as senior royals stemmed from being unable to speak out on stories from Palace aides.
The journalist said: “I think there were a number of themes at play here and certainly what we saw in a lot of media commentary was this ‘Duchess Difficult’.
“Harry is very aware of what goes on behind the scenes behind Palace walls, and the couple were told they couldn’t defend themselves… but their reputation was being destroyed.”
MEGHAN WAS OFFENDED BY PRINCESS MICHAEL OF KENT’S BLACKAMOOR BROOCH
Meghan was offended by a blackamoor brooch worn by Princess Michael of Kent to a Christmas lunch in 2017, new biography Finding Freedom claims.
The Duchess felt the pin of an African man “sent a message” and was “insensitive to her African American roots” and the racism she faced after going public about her relationship with Prince Harry.
The royal, who is married to the Queen’s cousin Prince Michael, was forced to apologise and was said to be “distressed that it had caused offence”.
Co-authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand claim Princess Michael’s choice of brooch was “at the bare minimum” an “insensitivity to Meghan’s African American roots and the racism she had encountered since pairing up with Harry.”
The authors write: “When it comes to royal fashion, much thought goes into every detail.
“Princess Michael’s choice of brooch could have simply been a mistake, but in the back of Meghan’s mind, she wondered if there wasn’t a message being sent in the pin of the torso of an African man wearing a gold turban and ornate clothing.”
MEGHAN HAD TO UNDERGO SAS KIDNAP TRAINING
Meghan, 39, undertook the intense two-day security course – which all members of the Royal Family must take – much sooner than Duchess of Cambridge took hers.
This was because she and Harry, 35, had received an “unusually high number of threats”, according to bombshell biography Finding Freedom, out today.
“There have been some absolutely terrifying and stomach churning threats made to Meghan since she started dating Harry,” one aide said.
Meghan was bundled into the back of a car by a pretend-terrorist then rescued by officers firing fake guns, according to the book.
She was taught how to develop a relationship with her captors and even drive a car “while in pursuit” during the training at SAS headquarters in Hereford.
Meghan found the experience “extremely intense and scary” a source told the book authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand – but she was grateful she had undertook it.
MEGHAN CLAIMED SHE WAS EXPECTED TO ‘SERVE ARCHIE ON A SILVER PLATTER’
Fiercely protective Meghan made sure Archie’s christening on July 6 last year was a “completely private affair” at the Queen’s Chapel in Windsor Castle attended by just 22 guests, Harry and Meghan’s unauthorised biography Finding Freedom, out today, says.
While she came under attack for breaking tradition and not allowing the media or the public a glimpse of baby Archie on his special day, Meghan didn’t care, according to the book authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand.
Instead she told a friend: “The same people who have been abusing me want to see me serve my child on a silver platter.
“A child who is not going to be protected and doesn’t have a title. How does that make sense? Tell that to any mother in the world.”
Meghan’s decision caused uproar with those who believed that as the taxpayers part-fund the monarchy, they have a right to see Archie on his christening day, according to the book.
MEGHAN & HARRY ‘FORCED TO DISMISS’ ARCHIE’S NIGHT NURSE ON SECOND SHIFT
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had hired the nanny as an extra pair of hands for their son – who is seventh in line to the throne – but her employment was “brief”.
In an excerpt from Finding Freedom it was claimed the nanny had been hired to help set a sleep schedule for little Archie.
But authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand claimed: “Meghan and Harry felt they were forced to let the nurse go in the middle of her second night of work for being unprofessional.”
It is unclear exactly what occurred – but the incident is claimed to have left the new parents concerned about using a nanny.
MEGHAN ‘FELL HARD’ FOR PRINCE HARRY WHEN SHE SAW HIM WITH KIDS
Meghan “fell hard” for Prince Harry as she witnessed him playing with her best friend Jessica Mulroney’s children, according to new book Finding Freedom.
Authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand explained how the Duke of Sussex would win over Jessica’s children John, Brian and Ivy with gifts.
The authors said that as a new couple Harry and Meghan would “hide out” at the Mulroney’s before their relationship became public in 2016.
In the book, which was released today, the authors describe how Harry “never turned up empty handed” when visiting Jessica’s home in Toronto which she shares with husband Ben Mulroney.
And it was Harry’s generosity and hands-on approach to the children that truly won over his future wife.
MEGHAN FELT ‘EMOTIONALLY BRUISED’ AFTER MEGXIT
The authors of Finding Freedom detailed how Meghan had an extremely emotional departure from the royal family, breaking down in tears during one of her final engagements as a royal – the Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey.
It was the Commonwealth Service where Meghan received the famously “frosty” reception from Kate.
Following the service, Meg booked the first flight to Canada feeling “emotional bruised and exhausted.”
MEGHAN SAW PRINCE CHARLES AS A ‘SECOND FATHER’
A source told the authors of Finding Freedom that Meg did not consider Charles as a father-in-law but rather a “second father.”
The authors write: “Meghan had her own reasons for admiring her father-in-law, who had poignantly walked her down the aisle when her own father let her down.”
Prince Charles, who walked Meghan down the aisle in absence of her own father Thomas Markle in 2018, is said to be just as fond of his daughter-in-law.
A friend of the heir said he had “taken a real shine to Meghan. She’s a sassy, confident, beautiful American.”
HARRY WAS ‘DELIGHTFULLY SURPRISED’ WHEN MEGHAN ‘PEED IN THE WOODS’
The Duke of Sussex was “delightfully surprised” with Meghan after she went for a pee in the woods on their first trip abroad, according to new biography Finding Freedom.
Six weeks after their first date in July 2016, Harry whisked his new love to Botswana for a secret luxury camping getaway.
The new book, released today, says: “Harry was delightfully surprised by Meghan’s down-to-earth attitude.
“While camping she cleaned her face with baby wipes and happily wandered into the woodlands if she needed a bathroom break.”
THE QUEEN IS SAID TO HAVE TOLD PRINCE HARRY HE’LL ‘ALWAYS BE WELCOMED BACK’
The Queen is said to have told Prince Harry that he and Meghan Markle will always be welcomed back into the royal family if they choose to return. An excerpt from biography Finding Freedom, by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, claims the Queen made the overture to Prince Harry during a private chat on March 1.
The monarch is said to have invited her grandson to lunch, where they had a long chat.
The passage says: “As they tucked into a roast lunch, the Queen made it clear to Harry that she would always support him in whatever he decided to do.
“Though a 12-month trial period had already been promised to Harry earlier in the year, their conversation was also a reminder that should he and Meghan ever want to return to their roles, they were always welcome.”
The passage also referred to an inside source, who is quoted as saying: “It’s been made very clear they can come back whenever they want, when they’re ready.”
MEGHAN GOT A ‘DRESSING DOWN’ FROM THE QUEEN IN ROW ABOUT EGGS, AUTHOR CLAIMS
A royal author has claimed that Meghan had travelled to Windsor Castle for a food tasting session not long before her wedding – but was unhappy with a dish containing eggs.
According to royal author Katie Nicholl, 38-year-old Meghan had asked for a “macrobiotic alternative” to cater for some of her Hollywood pals’ diets.
“[Meghan] got very upset when she felt that she could taste egg in a dish when she was told there was no egg in there, and she said, ‘No, I can taste it, I can taste there’s egg in this dish’,” Katie told Yahoo’s Royal Box.
According to Katie, the Queen “took Meghan to one side” for a quiet word.
“I think there was a bit of an upset when suddenly the Queen walked in, because of course, this was Windsor Castle, this is her home,” she said.
“And she just quietly took Meghan to the side and said, ‘Meghan, in this family we don’t speak to people like that’.”
DORIA’S SWEET NICKNAME FOR MEGHAN REVEALED
It’s no secret that Meghan Markle is incredibly close with her mum Doria Ragland – who has reportedly moved in with her, Harry and baby Archie in LA.
Meghan’s uncle Joseph Johnson has recalled the moment the family found out she was dating Prince Harry – and how Doria used the nickname “Flower” for her daughter.
He said: “All of us were really stunned. Shocked.
“Doria was so excited. She was just saying, ‘My little Flower! My Flower’s going to be a princess! Wooh-wooh!’”
When she still had her lifestyle blog The Tig, Meghan revealed her childhood nicknames during a Q&A with fans.
She revealed: “My nickname is Meg, M&M and Flower (which my mom has called me since I was little).”
RACISM ‘PLAYED A ROLE’ IN MEG AND HARRY QUITTING ROYAL FAMILY, AUTHOR CLAIMS
Racism in the Monarchy “played a role” in Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s decision to quit the Royal Family, the author of a new biography claimed today.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex dramatically announced they were stepping down in January and moving to LA just months later to start their new life.
A new biography, Finding Freedom, will be released tomorrow – giving an insight into just why they decided to leave the Firm so abruptly.
Speaking to Good Morning America today, co-author Omid Scobie was quizzed over whether their decision had boiled down to race as Meghan is mixed race.
He replied: “In terms of ticking those boxes that may ruffle feathers within an ancient institution such that of the monarchy, she really ticked all of them. Race did play a role.”
The author, who is mixed race himself, recounted his own experience with a senior aide close to the Queen, claiming that the individual had expressed surprise at his posh English accent.
Mr Scobie explained: “The senior aide close to the Queen said ‘I would never have expected you to speak like that’.
“That level of ignorance perhaps made it difficult for Meghan.”
MEGHAN AND HARRY’S SOCIAL MEDIA DROPPED FROM ROYAL FAMILY’S OFFICIAL PAGES
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down as senior royals earlier this year to become private citizens with their son Archie and were forced to drop the name Sussex Royal when they stepped down from The Firm.
Their Sussex Royal Instagram no longer appears alongside the social media accounts of the Queen, Prince Charles and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the official Royal Family website.
Fan account Gert’s Royal has also highlighted that Prince Andrew, who stepped down from royal duties last year over the links with Jeffrey Epstein, has had his link to his social media account removed.
The Sun Online has contacted Kensington Palace for a statement.
THE SWEET GIFT MEGHAN WANTS TO GIVE TO FUTURE DAUGHTER
From gorgeous dresses to exquisite jewellery, there’s no denying Meghan Markle has an incredible wardrobe – and it turns out, she’s already saving one special item for her future daughter.
Back in her Suits days, the Duchess of Sussex justified a very expensive designer purchase by imagining herself handing it down to future generations of her family.
In an interview with Hello! magazine in September 2015, Meghan said she “always coveted the Cartier French Tank watch” which costs a cool £4,800.
But when she was told Suits had been “picked up for a third season”, the former actress “totally splurged” and bought a “two-tone version”.
Better still, Meghan had the beautifully delicate designer watch engraved to herself with “To M.M. From M.M” on the back.
In what was an incredibly monumental purchase for the Duchess, Meghan revealed that she plans “to give it to my daughter one day. That’s what makes pieces special, the connection you have to them.”
PRINCE HARRY WHISKED MEGHAN AWAY ON £33K ‘BABYMOON’
These days it’s pretty common for couples to embark on a “babymoon” before becoming parents for the first time – and Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are no different.
Last April, we revealed that the Duke of Sussex treated his pregnant wife to a three-night stay at the exclusive five-star hotel Heckfield Place in Hampshire.
The couple stayed in the hotel’s Long Room suite – complete with its own sitting and dining room and private terrace – which cost £10,000 a night.
The pal said of the three-night stay at the Georgian hotel: “They wanted total rest and relaxation, and Meghan was really attracted to the organic ethos of the hotel which produces much of its own food on an on-site farm.
“It was very chilled. They went for walks in their wellies, Meghan sat on a love-swing hung from a tree and they ate delicious food.
“She particularly enjoyed the hotel’s signature chocolate-coated candied orange and roasted home-grown vegetables.”
GET YOUR HANDS ON MEGHAN MARKLE-APPROVED SLIPPERS
If you’re still part of the work-from-home crew, you can now get your hands of a pair of Meghan Markle approved slippers.
For anyone still living in their pyjamas, why not treat yourself to a pair of Ugg’s Scuffettes, a favourite of Meghan’s.
The former actress shared a snap of herself wearing the £73.09 slippers on Instagram while on the set of Suits, presumably taking a break from her heels.
You can pick up a pair here, and if tan isn’t your colour they also have the slippers in black, cream and pink.
THIS £59 JUMPSUIT FROM MARKS & SPENCER IS JUST LIKE ONE MEGHAN WORE
The Duchess was first spotted in a black Everlane one-piece during the video that was released to mark her guest editorship of British Vogue in September 2019, according to Hello!.
She later wore it again during her royal visit to South Africa later that month.
While the exact one would set you back £94, the Marks & Spencer version is just £59 – and available in both black and a neutral stone colour.
