MEGAN Barton Hanson claimed that the secret to her self-confidence was therapy – before crediting stripping for helping her achieve self-love.
The Love Island star has made no secret of her love of cosmetic surgery, having spent a reported £25,000 on transforming her looks over the years in a bid to feel more beautiful.
But Megan Barton Hanson has now claimed that the secret to self-confidence is actually therapy.
Speaking to Glamour magazine this week, the 24-year-old stunner encouraged young girls to work on self-love before changing their physical appearance.
She told the publication: “That’s my biggest thing to young girls.
“I’m happy with the choices I made with cosmetic surgery but at 19 I went in with the view that I’m going to get enlarged breasts, I’m going to have my nose done and I’m going to come out and I’m going to be so confident and sassy.
“Unless you learn to love yourself, all you’re changing is the outside shell.”
“So that’s my biggest message to young girls.”
Megan also touched upon her own journey to self-love, explaining: “Although I’ve changed the outside shell, it took a lot of therapy, a lot of self-love, age and all kinds of things to make me really love myself.”
When asked if she would go back in time and put the money she used on plastic surgery for therapy, the babe admitted she had been “naive” when she opted to go under the knife.
She explained: “I was fortunate enough to do both, so the first point of call for me was the boobs and the nose and then I changed that and then I thought ‘do you know what? I’m still not happy’.”
“I’m honest and I’m open, I was 19, I was naive and I thought I was going to come out and be so confident but that wasn’t the case.
“The next thing, I got straight on the phone, I got a therapist and I was talking about why I didn’t love myself.
“And the truth is, it’s not about the outside appearance, you’re either built with this self-esteem or you’re not.”
Megan then went on to credit her stint on Love Island as well as stripping for helping her to achieve confidence.
Her interview comes shortly after ex-boyfriend Wes Nelson dismissed rumours of a reconciliation between the pair, who split earlier this year after seven months together.
