He’s been carefully guarded on this year’s season of Married At First Sight, and now Drew Brauer has given some insight as to why.
The 32-year-old’s audition tape was shown on Channel Nine’s Talking Married recently, and he reveals intimate details about his split from his ex-fiancée, Sam.
‘I was engaged to be married about five, six years ago now. It got about eight weeks out from the wedding, and my ex-fiancée decided to call the wedding off…’ he said in the audition, as reported by 9Now on Thursday.
‘Obviously I was pretty devastated, and it’s probably one of the worst things I’ve ever been through in my life.
‘Nothing bad happened, it wasn’t like… We just had a little argument one night and the next day she woke up and said, “Yeah, I don’t want to do it anymore”.’
Drew confessed the whole ordeal had left him heartbroken, but maintained he was ‘good now’.
‘We’re actually good friends again now. I was off relationships for quite a while after that last one, as you can imagine,’ he continued.
Drew said he had another long-term relationship after he split from his fiancée, which lasted for a year.
Although he said he doesn’t have a type, he asked the producers not to partner him with anybody called ‘Sam’, which happens to be the name of both his ex-fiancée and his last girlfriend.
Drew was matched with dancer KC Osborne on this year’s season of Married At First Sight, but he’s had a hard time opening up to her.
On Wednesday’s episode of the hit Channel Nine reality show, KC, 31, confessed she had strong feelings for Drew, but she wasn’t sure if they were reciprocated.
‘I feel like I’ve done all that I can. I’ve definitely been vulnerable. You know, I have deep feelings for him and he has my heart,’ she confessed.
