The Simpsons has responded to a Trump adviser who compared Kamala Harris’ voice to that of their much-loved animated matriarch Marge.
Jenna Ellis, the Trump campaign’s senior legal adviser, tweeted on Wednesday that Harris – who was picked by Trump’s opponent Joe Biden to be his running mate this week – sounded like Marge.
‘Kamala sounds like Marge Simpson’ Ellis wrote after watching the U.S. senator make an appearance with Biden.
Two days later, Fox’s The Simpsons posted a response on their Twitter page showing the beloved Simpsons character standing on a stage as she shared a message for Jenna while getting in a subtle dig at Trump.
Marge says, ‘I usually don’t get into politics, but the president’s senior adviser Jenna Ellis just said Kamala Harris sounds like me? Lisa said she doesn’t mean it as a compliment.
‘If that is so, as an ordinary suburban housewife, I am starting to feel a little disrespected. I teach my children not to name call, Jenna. I was going to say I am pissed off, but I am afraid they would bleep it.’
Marge’s comment about being a suburban housewife is a reference to recent comments the president has made about being able to count on votes from that demographic in his bid to be reelected.
Trump tweeted recently, ‘The “suburban housewife” will be voting for me. They want safety & are thrilled that I ended the long running program where low income housing would invade their neighborhood. Biden would reinstall it, in a bigger form, with Corey Booker in charge! @foxandfriends @MariaBartiromo’.
Twenty years ago The Simpsons strangely predicted that businessman-turned-reality star Trump would become the president in an episode called Bart to the Future.
A flash forward shows Lisa succeeding Trump in the White House and yelling ‘the country is broke’ after declaring they’ve ‘inherited quite a budget crunch’ from Trump.
Actress Julie Kavner voices Marge, the sweet-natured wife of Homer Simpson and mother of Bart, Lisa and Maggie.
