MANCHESTER UNITED predicted team: United take on Perth Glory today in a pre-season friendly in Australia – but who will play?
United have jetted off for a pre-season tour of Australia as they look to bounce back from a torrid year.
The Red Devils finished sixth in the Premier League and will be plying their trade in the Europa League next year.
And that is against a backdrop of problems behind the scenes, with player fallouts and transfer requests among them.
But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is determined to bring the good times back to Old Trafford and has undergone a gruelling fitness regime to get his floundering squad back to tip-top shape.
However, his training programme has been overtaken by the unclear futures of star names such as Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku.
Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola left a timely reminder of his client’s intentions to leave after reiterating his message two days before the squad went down under.
And Inter Milan chiefs flew to London this week to open talks over a transfer for Lukaku.
With that in mind, Solskjaer may opt to utilise his vast squad today when his side take on Perth Glory.
New signings Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka could be thrown straight into action, with fans desperate to see them.
The former, in particular, has really impressed Solskjaer after smashing fitness tests – evening maxing out the bleep test.
There is a strong blend of youth and experience with United in Australia and that should be evident in today’s line-up.
The likes of Tahith Chong, Angel Gomes and Mason Greenwood and highly-rated at Old Trafford and should be expected to play today.
Solskjaer has been a huge advocate of young talent since his arrival, demanding Ed Woodward snap up the best prospects in the country.
So it would be no surprise to see the Norwegian go with a baby-faced side today against Perth Glory – who themselves are missing six key players.
United possible line up: Pereira; Dalot, Tuanzebe, Bailly, Shaw; McTominay, Garner, Mata; James, Greenwood, Chong.
