Make use of your garden for cheap nights of fun during lockdown with our top Sun Savers tips

ONE upside of lockdown has been spending more time in the garden. Pub gardens are open now but with social distancing and other regulations, a gathering in your garden might be the only option for some.

Check out my top tips for making your backyard a venue to be proud of . . .

COSY COVER: Our weather can make for soggy get-togethers. I love a garden gazebo in case of rain. You can easily turn it into a cosy chillout area. Split the cost with a mate and buy one to share, or check for second-hand options. Lots of people buy them for a one-off event. Argos has a basic gazebo for just £25 — while heavy-duty options with panels can cost hundreds.

Brighten up outdoor spaces with blankets and cushions. They are perfect for cosying up while keeping the party going late on. George at Asda sell fluffy plush throws for just £5 — far less than those for £40 at John Lewis. At Argos, a two-pack of outdoor pillows is £10. At Dunelm, they cost £14. SAVE: £35 on the throw

FILM FUN: Outdoor movies are a hit right now but each ticket could cost you a tenner or more. Create your own with a mini projector, like the Mini Projector 1080P HD Multimedia LED TV for £25 at Pick up four reuseable popcorn boxes for £6.98 on Amazon and Butterkist Cinema sweet popcorn for £1 at Asda — cheaper than the £1.70 price at Sainsbury’s. SAVE: 70p on the popcorn

SIT BACK: Make sure your guests have somewhere comfy to kick back and relax. I really like the four-piece rattan furniture set currently on Wowcher for £169 — a huge saving on the similar sets sold on for £379.99.
Choose from three colours to match your theme — and you can jazz them up if you want with cushions or throws. SAVE: £210.99

A 500g box of Kellogg’s Crunchy Nut cereal, above, is £3 at Tesco. But you can get a sweet breakfast for much less with Tesco’s own Honey Nut flakes, below, just £1.

SAVE: £2

A BOX of four White Chocolate, Honeycomb & Almond Magnum ice creams is a cool £2.50 at Asda, down from £3.20.

SAVE: 70p

THE Salter XL sandwich maker at The Range is on sale for £19.99, down from £49.99. Great for lunches.

SAVE: £30

ARE you celebrating this week? Head to Tesco to pick up a bottle of Mionetto Prosecco DOC Treviso for £8, down from £11. It makes a great gift (and tastes great too).
