Mac Miller’s death certificate released one week after apparent overdose

MAC Miller was found dead at his home in Los Angeles last week.

The rapper and producer, who previously dated singer Ariana Grande, is thought to have died of an apparent overdose, however no suspicious substances were found in his home.

Just one week after his shock passing, the 26-year-old’s death certificate has been released.

According to the document, filed with the LA County and obtained by TMZ, his cause of death is “deferred”, meaning the LA County Coroner is still awaiting toxicology results.

The exact cause of his death is expected to be revealed in four to six weeks, when toxicology results return.

However, this means the star’s heartbroken family will now be able to lay him to rest.

A friend is said to have found Mac unresponsive at his home in San Fernando valley on Friday morning and immediately called emergency services.

Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mac had split from his girlfriend of two years, Ariana Grande, in May of this year.

Just weeks after their separation, he was charged with driving under the influence – a charge which will not be dropped by prosecutors because of his death.

While Ariana is yet to speak about his shock passing, Mac’s close friend, Shane Powers, praised the star, explaining that she has been a “stabilising force in his life”.

“She was deeply helpful and effective in keeping Mac sober and helping him get sober and she was all about him being healthy, period, in this area of this life,” he said on his podcast, The Shane Show.

He added that Ariana had been in regular contact with him about Mac’s fragile health.

Mac had spoken openly about his history with drug abuse and depression long before his death.

In an interview with Billboard in 2015, he admitted he was worried about dying, because he was “doing a lot of drugs”, but added that he was trying to keep it under control.

“It just eats at your mind, doing drugs every single day, every second. It’s rough on your body,” he said.

“I’m not 100% clean, but I’m not a piece of s**t anymore. I can look in the mirror and be like, ‘I look OK’,” he added.
