M62 traffic update: Motorway closed after a car FLIPS – Queues form as police arrive on the scene.
Police have closed a motorway on the outskirts of Liverpool after a car flipped onto its side.
In the eastbound direction, the M62 remains closed.
Following an accident involving one car this morning, this has caused traffic to back up.
At 11 a.m., police arrived at the scene on Roby Road in Huyton at Junction 5 (A5080).
“Police were called at 11 a.m.,” a spokesperson for Merseyside Police said.
“One of the vehicles had rolled over.
“There were no reported injuries.”
“While officers recover the vehicle, the M62 is closed.”
As police try to recover the vehicle, the highway is closed.
There is now a traffic jam approaching Junction 4 (The Rocket).
The motorway’s entry and exit slips at Junction 4 are being used as a diversion route.
This isn’t the first accident in Liverpool in the last 24 hours.
After a horrific motorway crash yesterday, a woman had to be cut free from her car.
The M6 northbound was closed as a result of the accident.
For the majority of the day, the road was closed for resurfacing and repairs.
“Just before 6.30am on Friday 7 January, fire crews were called to reports of a road traffic collision on the M6 northbound between junction 26 and 27 near Wigan,” a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said in a statement.
“The incident was quickly attended by two fire engines from Wigan fire station, as well as the technical rescue unit from Leigh.”
“Only one car was involved in the accident.”
