M32 traffic update: Major crash closes the highway, causing massive delays on the M4.
A MAJOR traffic accident on the M32 near Bristol is causing major Bank Holiday delays, with a portion of the highway closed since this morning’s early hours.
The restriction, which affected southbound traffic entering Bristol City Centre between Junction 1 A4174 (Hambrook) and Junction 2 B4058 Stapleton Route (Eastville), was in effect since 2.30 a.m., but the road has subsequently reopened. “Officers are on the scene of a major single-vehicle collision on the #M32 southbound between J1-2,” Avon and Somerset Police tweeted. “An investigation is being conducted.”
“#M32 Southbound J1 #Hambrook towards J2 #Eastville is currently closed due to an ongoing incident,” National Highways: South West tweeted.
We’ve arrived on the scene and are working with the police to get this road reopened as quickly as possible. When the route reopens, we’ll provide more information.”
“We have reopened the highway currently with a lane 1 closure past scene,” it tweeted shortly after noon.
“Please proceed with caution when approaching the location. “I appreciate your patience.”
After the vehicle exited the highway and crashed into the vegetation, emergency services were summoned.
There have been no reports of injuries so yet, but this website has inquired about the presence of the South West Ambulance Service.
There have also been delays on the M4 as a result of the interruption.

“Delays are probable due to traffic congestion in the area.”
