Liverpool news: Rabiot decision, Salah and Firmino injury claim, Pickford on Alisson gaffe

LIVERPOOL news and gossip – Starsport brings you all the latest from Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp has no intention of making a move for PSG star Adrien Rabiot next summer.

The midfielder was heavily linked with a move to Barcelona during the transfer window but the La Liga giants opted to sign Arturo Vidal.

Rabiot’s contract expires at the end of the season and it is unclear whether he’ll be extending his stay.

There have been suggestions in recent weeks that Jurgen Klopp is considering making a move to strengthen his midfield ahead of next season.

“If Salah’s injured, Shaqiri goes in.”

But according to the Liverpool Echo, the Reds are not interested in signing Rabiot.

Liverpool would be able to cope with injuries to Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino because they have enough depth in their squad to replace them, according to Dean Saunders.

“If Salah’s injured, Shaqiri goes in and he can score goals at any level, he exclusively told Starsport.

“And at £13m you won’t get a better buy all season for a player who’s 26 and won 70-odd caps for his country.

Liverpool keeper Alisson has been criticised for taking risks at the back

“And the way he plays he can score goals, he can win them games.

“And obviously you’ve got (Daniel) Sturridge who’s had a good pre-season and he could play his part this season.

“If Firmino’s injured or not scoring, Klopp can stick him in.”

Everton star Jordan Pickford has revealed he would never put himself in the same position Alisson was after his blunder against Leicester.

“I try not to do tricks because I don’t want to be caught with it. It’s a risk,” he said.

“It’s a style of play and I think that’s the way Liverpool want to play as well.

“You’ve got to accept where mistakes will happen and it’s about not making the next one.

“It’s all about managing the game and not making it again in the same game I’d say.

“Look at Ederson at Manchester City, Guardiola puts a lot of faith in him doing it and mistakes happen all over the pitch – the goalkeeper mistake is always a crucial one or gets talked about a lot.

“For me, I’m going to try not to put myself in that position to make those mistakes.

“You don’t want to get too comfortable if you’re winning and start trying to be a No 10 player.”
